Short Course Tests Up and Down
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/06
The course is conveniently located in West Boise. It is only a par 61 (31/30), and when it is not crowded you can make it around in 2 to 2.5 hours, which is great. The greens can be a bit shaky, what with so many untutored rookies on the course leaving ball marks, stepping on the edge of the hole, etc., but the fairways are normally in very nice shape; lush green and cut to the right length.
The course has only one par 5, so you can live without your driver. A series of tricky par 3 threes will test your short and mid-irons, with holes of 190, 65, 145, 115, 160, 120, 140, 135, 165, 220, 155, and 145 yards.
An easy course? Yes. But tough against par.
Per Harvey Penick: "if you can't beat my short game, you can't beat me." This course is all about the short game.
