Waikiki Aquarium, Honolulu

Because we are Zoo members at home, we got in free at the Aquarium. If we had to pay, we would have been sorely disappointed. You can view the entire site within 15 to 20 minutes....not worth the effort of getting there. Save your money and go somewhere else. Unless, you can get in free then..why not?!

Our trip to the Waikiki Aquarium was outstanding~Good customer service. Fantastic collection of fish and marine life that exists in the Hawaiian Islands!

This is a definite hidden treasure that not too many tourists were at. For the scale, it is worth a look-see. I found the Frog and Coral displays to be interesting, as well as the Jellyfish tank. It is a great educational tool if one is in pursuit of such thing on vacation.

I enjoyed my time in the Waikiki Aquarium. It was very exciting to see some of the fish that are endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. I especially enjoyed the Frog Fish display. I have been to many Aquariums from around the world, and what Waikiki Aquarium lack in size they make up in quality of displays.

This is one of the oldest Aquariums in the US. That also means it does not benefit from some of the exotic layouts many recent ones have. It is very simple and displays the fish very simply. The fish are still beautiful and interesting, but there are no underwater walkways or scuba feedings. It is an easy and pretty walk down the street from Waikiki. It is not very expensive and will only take an hour. So it can be a fun short outing if you have small children. We live here and are members and take our daughter regularly. She is two and always seems to have fun.

The aquarium in Waikiki is very nice, however Shed Aquarium in Chicago is much better. If you want a 'top of the line aquarium, check out the National Aquarium in Baltimore Md. It is truly the 'best of the best'.
