Hanauma Bay Snorkeling Excursions / Tommy's Tours, Honolulu

The Driver we had wasn't bad, 18 dollars to rent snorkel gear and a van ride from our hotel wasn't bad either for the price. The fact that we heard our driver say "I will be picking you up" was the problem. We got to our meeting place at the time we were supposed to. We waited and waited we saw the other driver there, then she took off. We waited about 30 minutes called Tommy's tours. First they came out of their mouth was "Oh are you the (last name) cause you missed your bus" with the most annoyed and rudest i ever voice expected. He kept saying the driver called your last name and hotel, Left at this time. The only thing true about the statement is the time. We sat next to the bus and she said nothing. We didn't think to ask her cause we though another driver was coming to get us. As there are several people coming in and out of the beach. The only customer service they provided was to get a drive to us right away, but the whole situation could of been avoided if the drive properly told us the right info. And called our party out. As I work in customer service.

Where do i start! the driver called Jerry was so pushy, we had brazillians on the bus who asked twice for the driver jerry to slow down his talk as they had trouble understanding him, Jerry said he couldn't as he had so much stuff to get through.......he waffled on about how many injuries you can suffer, how the moray ells are going to rip your arms off, how your day will spiral into tragedy and leave you thanking god you survived the ordeal. Way too much emphasis on the dangers as perceived by Jerry, scared my kid and the Brazillians so much they freaked out and couldn't have a good day. He spoke to us like we were naughty kindergarten pupils, he was too much. The gear was old, two people decided to not take his bus home, when the message was passed onto Jerry, by other tour members, he started to berate them about how he's going to get his gear back....don't shoot the messenger Jerry . Take the bus, rent your stuff there. The bay itself, excellent.

Obnoxious, pushy and rude. Avoid, please- you will regret it if you hire them.

I've been with Tommy's tours 4 times now. I am extremely satisfied, and if I ever get to go back to Hawaii again, I will be going with them again. They do not have the fanciest of vehicles, but they are clean and reliable, and you are going swimming, so to expect something plush and expensive would be unreasonable. They don't leave people behind. The driver specifically tells you on the way there that you have to approach the van when you are getting picked up, because they may not recognize you, or there could be a different driver than the one that brought you. There equipment is not old - it is some of the best technology in North America, with one way purge valves on both the masks and the dry snorkels. They also specifically tell you that if you have problems with their equipment to call them on their toll free number and they will either walk you through it over the phone, or instruct you to rent equipment at the Bay, keep your receipt, and if the equipment problem is their responsibility, then they will pay you back for the rental. If you are looking for a limousine to take you to Hanauma Bay, then maybe you should call one and pay their prices. People need to be realistic in what they expect to receive for $15.00. A cab ride alone to Hanauma Bay from Waikiki is more. I have been totally satisfied all 4 times that I have been with Tommy's Tours. Their staff has been polite, kind, and courteous. I have enjoyed the information they give out about good places to eat, where the rich and famous' houses are, and other tidbits about Hawaii. In my opinion, this is the best Hanauma Bay Tour company to go with, and I will continue to give them my business.

I had a wonderful experience snorkeling through Tommy Tours. I beleive Larry was the gentelmans name who picked up at my hotel. He was kind, courteous & very informative. I hope to squezze in another snorkeling trip while I'm here visiting. And yes, without a doubt it will be through Tommy Tours. Thankis again Tommy Tours for giving me the Ohana Experience!! The tour was a good idea, but the water was not nearly as clear as I'd liked on June 2nd. I've swum in the Great Lakes, around Puerto Rico, the Black Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico and have done plenty of snorkeing and although there were fish to be seen, the water was too murky for real good photographs. Had it not been the case, I would have rated it a 5. Instead, it's a 4 overall. The area itself was, of coure, beautiful.

I was hesitant to go on a tour, I knew the bus would get us there for less $$. But, I paid the $18 through the expedia desk at the hotel. I am so happy that I did! We took the 6 a.m. pick up, (which I would recommend). They were punctual. The driver gave us very helpful tips as he drove. I especially liked that he pointed out on a map the more advanced areas, as I wanted to stay in the beginner area. The equipment was very clean and durable. When you get to the bay, if it is before 7 a.m. they do not charge you to get in. ($7.50) Tommy's was sure to tell us this. It is very convenient to be drove to the bay, you have your equipment and are ready to go when you get there. No long lines. We would most surely call Tommy's again!! Thank you!

Went early February. Really nice driver, the owner actually picked us up. Even gave us a little "tour" in route back to our hotel. They were on time, no problems and exactly as advertised. We booked via Expedia.com desk at our hotel. No problems at all. Water was real clear, had a great time and seen plenty of fish, and other sealife. Would do it again. Total came to about $23.00 (went with the premium snorkel gear). You might even save some bucks by purchasing your own gear and bring it with you !
