Perfect Day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/13/07
We took this trip on a friend's recommendation. I had to do a little soothing since my wife is afraid of small airplanes. Also, it was kind of windy, a "trade wind day" as they say here. My wife forgot all about being afraid very quickly. First was the rather unique experience of being in an airplane out on the water. Then after takeoff, the bumpy air along Waikiki was actually kind of pleasant - not hard bumps like in a big airplane, more like a rocking chair or little waves...maybe we were going slow or something. Anyway, the great views and the pilot's commentary quickly convinced me we had discovered the deal of the century. There is no other way to see this incredibly beautiful island, or to understand what we were looking at. We took the one-hour tour, and got geology, beaches, movies and stars' homes, history, and scenery all the way. I don't know if its usual, but we finished up by flying right over Pearl Harbor and looking down at the battleship Missouri and the Arizona - you can see it under the water!! Perfect Day, highlight of our trip. Do it, do it!!
