Description

The tragic occurrences and subsequent world-changing events associated with this naval base make it a crucial part of American history and heritage. While the harbor is quite large, the Visitor's Center and Arizona Memorial are the hubs of tourism. Several tours are available through activity brokers or tour companies. To reach Pearl Harbor from Waikiki Beach, take Nimitz Highway past the airport to Highway 99, and continue past the naval community.

awful and boring

unless your randfather died there or you are a history teacher, don´t go, it is far, expensive, boring, you travel for hours to see a floating thing in the sea, and then they say: under this is the ship....... then you travel back for hours..... just go and enjoy the beaches, the waterfalls somewhere else in the island.....

Depressing

Totally depressing. If you want to ruin a good day go see it. 90% of the tourists are Japansese and you can't help but feel a little anger towards them. Go see the rest of the island.

I didn't like the fact that we had to pay $10.00 per person to tour the Bowfin sub, 7 years ago it was free. As a Honolulu resident I think I should have gone on free. Where is all that money going to anyway?

memorable trip...good...wanted to see pearl harbor. long journey from downtown though, had to take a long bus ride from downtown and the wait was long.

Crowded, but good swimming

It's a beautiful bay, but the beach can be crowded and the water is murky until you get out a ways form shore. In return trips I found that it is best to get there early and leave by noon.

Your father been there?

Went to Hawaii several years ago, was able to be in some of the places that my fatther had talked about that he had seen during WWII, Go if you can and think abou those who were there and never forget what they gave.

my father was at the bombing 65 years ago and i just found it chilling. i am a talker, but couldnt speak at the ceremony or any of the exhibits

First visit

It was a beautiful, moving experience. Anyone travelling to Hawaii should not miss this historic memorial. Be there first thing in the morning, at least an hour before they open, to avoid the long lines.

Not what it's cracked up to be.

On a whole, I expected Hawaii to be cleaner and nicer. If you go anywhere near the military bases on Oahu, you'll notice how filthy and poverty stricken it really is. Pearl Harbor is nice for the history buffs.
