Not worth the $$$
I'm not sure if it was because we anticipated too much on this activity and expected more, but I can say I would go out on the Honolulu screamer before I'd pay half the price for the sub trip again. The 1st time was in 2004, and everyone was disappointed that we rarely saw any fish and only got a quick glimspe of a stingray. The sub was very cramped. The AC helped but it still felt stuffy. We were told that its rare not to see any fish, so we tried it again in 2007. And only because our children begged us to go (since they didnt come with us in 04) But, same thing..Murky water, hardly any fish, one turtle sighting that lasted about 8 secs. And from experience, I can assure you if youre not within the 1st group of people abroad, you will not get a window seat (just in case you get lucky enough to see anything) Simply put...children will love it. You however will get bored, and actually look forward for the trip to end. Even if they took you to marine-life paradise, its not worth the price, which is the key reason, I'm so harsh and writing such a long review. Try a catamaran (not the ones charging $50 a person though) The Honolulu screamer was a blast as well. If wanna see fish go to the aquarium or snorkling. Just dont say I didnt warn ya on the sub though :)

Was Fun!

Kids loved it, we liked it and what a great way to see marine life! Booking it online is cheaper btw, for those of you who are not in the military.

Popular tour for visitors
By JH, 3/20/08
This is one unique tour! I have been on it twice and both times it was awesome. The first time we got on the premium sub which I have to admit is better then the standard sub (yes there are two of subs!) They go out 9a-3pm on the hour making it convienient to get a tour even last minute. We saw turtles, scuba divers, and sharks - oh my! For those who are claustrophic I think this would still be ok because the subs have good ventilation systems and youre too busy looking out the window anyways! Kinda pricey at regular price so try to get a deal through your hotel activities desk or if you're military the price is awesome at the military tours offices on the island.

If there is anything...
By Cheers, 2/1/08
The submarine was a slightly enjoyable experience. There were snacks on board, drinks, a nice boat and we caught view of the ocean. I'm a local here and to be honest, I was impressed by the crew, the beautiful pictures they've given us (they'll take your picture with your lover and what not...) However, when we sank down to the submarine we saw a few turtles, small fishes, and little reef sharks. In short, I was expecting more. The windows are a little small and far apart. Which means if you're seated in the wrong place, you're going to actually have to stretch your neck for the view. So if you're going... 1. Sit in the right place. 2. Expect children to go "ooohh" and "ahhhh." 3. Cross your fingers and hope Godzilla would swim by. 4. If you're a local in Hawaii, you won't enjoy this.

I'll do it again!
By Ms. Kit, 10/11/07
Being in the military lowered the cost immensely, by about 50% so the value was more than worth the experience of traveling in a submarine 125' below the surface to see the marine life among the purposely-sunken airplanes and ships. There aren't many opportunities to do something like this as a tourist. I took pictures and it seemed like they didn't take (all blue), but once I got home and pulled them up on Nero Photosnap Viewer, they actually turned out beautifully. It's worth the cost for the experience.

Fun for an hours time...
By Stacey Dawn, 8/28/07
Interesting to go under and see how the light changes the colors ... goes to 120' (or ours did that day). Did get some great pics of huge turtles, on the sunken ships. It is a great tour for kids especially. Plus, it's nice to be able to go down and see marine life, without getting wet! lol

worth the time and money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/6/07
we kissed at 120 feet--the deepest kiss we'll ever experience! saw giant turtles, tons of fish, the guides were helpful and didn't have to wait long; not overcrowded and very comfortable. unfortunately handicapped or disabled will not be able to climb into the submarine, I wish the company would rectify that so everyone could enjoy it

Neat experience
The trip was well organized. The wait time was a little long on the dock while we were awaiting the ship. The submarine was clean and the captain was informative. We were entertained by the fact that colors change that deep in the water and you can watch your neighbors' clothes completely change! The artifical reef was pretty and the sealife was abundant. Just remember not to wear a dress or skirt because you have to climb down into the sub and there just happened to be an extremely handsome submarine staffer waiting right at the bottom. WHOOPS.
