This little shopping center is popular with locals as well as tourists. It is located in the busiest section of Waikiki and stays open until the wee hours. About two dozen specialty shops and restaurants are in the center, including Scruple's Beach Club, Anna's Muumuu, Ten Ren's Tea and Surf 'n Turf Rentals. Coco's Internet Cafe, a popular place to check e-mail or surf the Web, is located right in front. Hours and credit card acceptance policies vary by merchant.

We stayed at the Kuhio Banyan timeshare on the 2nd floor of the Waikiki Marketplace, and it was so bad we went elsewhere for half of our week. The Marketplace itself is on the seedy side. It has a 24 hour Jack in the Box, a Subway, the House of Pain tattoo parlor, a number of small Japanese eateries (which I didn't try so I can't comment on them), and Scruples Night (not Beach) Club, which is open every night to 4 am, much to our discomfort. I can't imagine why a tourist would want to visit this place, except to pay more for fast food that you can get anywhere.
