Aloha Stadium Swap Meet

Description

Odds and ends, bits and pieces, trash and treasure of every description are for sale at this free-for-all in the Aloha Stadium. Hundreds of vendors come to display their wares, and thousands of shoppers descend upon the booths ready to find a bargain. You can buy T-shirts, sarongs, beach towels, jewelry of questionable quality, electronic equipment and every other kind of merchandise imaginable. The entire Stadium fills up with people during these events and an atmosphere of glee can often prevail. Browse, examine, chat up the vendor...maybe you'll find something nifty; maybe you'll just have fun. Haggling is acceptable here, so don't be afraid to ask for a deal.

Best place to shop
By ,
Expect HOT weather!! There is no place to sit in the shade and rest. I ask several shop owners if I could sit in there shop area and rest out of the heat. They were very agreeable and let me rest in their shadeed shop area--I am 65 years old. Also, you will see the same stuff in many of the shops. It is the best value for your money when it comes to buying things for the grandkids and friends back home. Be sure to take a shopping bag to carry your treasures in. A backpack works good. Take a hat and drinking water with you.

This place is a secret....
By ,
Better prices than the Internation Market across from Waikiki. You can get their by bus or by shuttle (just look for shuttles ads in those little books you pick up at the airport or ask your hotel front desk) or just drive if you have a car. I would suggest to go early before it gets too hot...since it's pavement it can seem more like Vegas hot than tropical hot. Tip: learn to talk Pidgeon, they will think you are local. If you look local, try not to dress like a tourist. The reason why is because they will give you local discount. We love this place. We will be back in the island in a few days. This is a must. You can pick up Aloha shirts, bulk buy on shirts, hawaiian music, Warrior helmets, etc. Weekends have more vendors than Wednesday. Need something to do after you shop here. Go across to Pearl Harbor and visit USS Arizona memorial.

Great!
By ,
Take the #42 or #20 bus from Ana Moana Center for $2.00. After you have loaded up with tee shirts @7 for $20 head back for another $2.00. Along the way stop in China Town for lunch. You are allowed to make a 3 hour stop and get back on the bus for no additional charge. This trip is great fun and one of the best values on the island. Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a free entrance pass in the btourist book "This Week in Oahu"...save another $.50.

Best place for souveniors
By ,
I'm originally from Hawaii, so everytime I go back to visit, I hit the Aloha Swap Meet at least twice! Shirts (8 for $20), bags, knick knacks, food, everything is there at a really great price. Plus it's great exercise! I suggest going to there to everyone who visits Oahu.

Bargain Capital of the World
By ,
The Swap meet at Aloha Stadium is a definite MUST SEE on any visit to Hawaii. The things you'll be able to find there are of great value. You can't beat the 50 cent admission price either. I must remember that the swap meet is only open on Wed., Sat, and Sun. I did alot of my Christmas shopping there...and it was April!!!!

Love Swap Meets
By ,
We went on a rainy Wednesday. Not as many vendors as there would of been had the sun been shining. But enough to spend my money. The nice thng about the rain was it kept the locals away because they can come anytime, and it wasn't hot which in could of been because the swap meet in out in the parking lot.

If I could give it a 6 I could. Both times we went to the Island we had 1 whole day set aside just for the Aloha Bowl Swap meet. .50 for admission & a whole day of shopping. We bought luggage there 1st thing just to fill up with gifts for everyone back home. You can find anything your heart desires!!!

The best swap meet ever!
Tons of great things... often the same things you'll pay lots of money for in tourist shops. I got great quality sarongs for $5 each. This is a much better bet than even the infamous ABC stores.
