Duke's Restaurant & Barefoot Bar
The biggest reason everyone gathers at this beachfront restaurant is the music and the patio sunsets. The sound is "Contemporary Hawaiian" and appeals to a youngish demographic. The food includes fresh fish, burgers and a tasty club sandwich. The atmosphere offers a great beach setting with traditional Hawaiian friendliness. Try the popular breakfast and lunch buffets. The adjoining bar is a fantastic place to have a drink before heading back to the beach.
Find out when they have the breakfast buffet, it is worth the money if you are hungry. You sit there on the patio looking at the ocean and you know you have arrived in Hawaii.
Best bacon ever.
If you want to have a good first day in Hawaii then go for an early morning swim in Waikiki before the crowds arrive, maybe 9am. Then eat beakfast at Dukes, and hang out on the beach for an hour or two before getting a noon massage at Abhasa spa.
You'll be spending money, but you can do things cheaply in the days to come. Indulge yourself on the first day. We did this and it was the best day ever.
They tried to sit us inside the restaurant but we asked to sit on the porch right on the beach. Much funner. We had looked at the menu posted outside and then again inside. It looked alright. We went in and the girl said we still have our lunch buffett until 3:30 p.m. for $11.95. What a pleasant surprise. No mention of that anywhere on the menu that we saw. Huge salad bar with the buffett and delicious Mahi Mahi. Well worth going for the lunch buffet. Every one around us had ordered this huge platter of waffle fries. Hope this helps:)
The view from the restaurant was beautiful, the service was very kind, and the drinks, What can I say, It was Hawaii!! The food was superb, especially the fish. The portions were more than enough. For a first experience, I cant express how good the food and the people were!! Thanks!!
There's nothing like reading the local paper, listening to the ocean, the sounds of Hawaiian music wafting overhead, sipping Kona coffee and enjoying the best breakfast buffet around....looking at Diamondhead. Get there early enough and you might see whales breaching...save room for the Hula Pie. Lunch buffet is good also, just a little less varied.
Legend has it, the Mai Tai was either invented or perfected here. Fact or fiction: it doesn't really matter. This
is a great place to have a drink and relax. Other creative tropical libations include Planters Punch, Navy Grog ...
Being in this place is more like being in Japan than America. Of course, one could say that about many
places in Hawai'i but Shogun has actually won awards for it. The restaurant was named "Best Japanese" in the ...
The three spacious dining rooms here are almost always packed with tourists and residents alike. In addition to regional Mandarin,
Szechuan and Cantonese dishes, the restaurant serves excellent prime rib and a great lobster and crab combination. One must ...
