Will never return to the Mai Tai Bar
Arrived there one day for food and drink.. had an early dinner at the bar and 4 drinks.. closed out my tab.. then decided to stay longer and wait for the band Had one more Rum and D Coke.. and after that I drank only Diet Coke until ready to leave @ 10:30 pm when I looked at my tab, clearly was incorrect, they had been charging me for Rum and cokes (5 were captioned on my 2nd tab)..I spoke to the bartender who said, "Lady, you have been here since happy hour." I let him know that I paid my first tab and he didn't believe me so I asked for the manager who proceeded to pretend that he knew me and commenced to publically defaming me by stating that I and he had argued my tab before on several prior occasions... I said, "Sir, You and I have never met before." He continued on to defame me... a man sitting next to me had also told him that I had been drinking only Diet Coke. I kept trying to get a word in edge wise to let the manager know that I could show him that I paid my happy hour tab.. finally, I handed my prior receipt (on charge card) to the manager, who seemed surprised at first but then re-stated he knew from prior billing arguements? For the record, I haven't met the manager prior to this incident nor have I ever argued my tab/bill before. I then let the manager know that I would pursue this in court (his public defamation) at which time he then admitted he didn't know me but that his bartender said I had argued my drink count before with him. He emphasized his position by saying, his bartender had been working with the company for over 10 years and why should he believe me over his bartender? My response was, "That is not what you have been saying in front of all of these people." He back stroked a bit then finally said, "Either pay the tab or don't pay it and never come back!" Needless to say, I am pursuing this, I spoke to their corporate office who said that they followed up with their manager who at this point is in complete denial that he attacked my integrity at all. Furthermore, his corporate office respond to my complaint indicating that their manager said I was yelling. This is also a lie! I don't recommend going there.. if ever you take issue with your billing statement (which I had only once) it is apparent to me that their approach is to publically humiliate you into paying whatever they choose to charge you. Years ago, I was a swing manager at a classy restaurant in Florida, if ever one of my patrons took issue with service, food, drink, etc., I listened to them and approached their concern with the best interest of not only the patron but the restaurant as well. Attacking a patrons personal integrity publically is more than just unprofessional. It only displays incomptance in how to handle a situation with a patron. The incident at the Mai Tai Bar could happen to anyone... think about it and pay as you go if you dare go there. Don't run a tab!
