Kobe Japanese Steak House
Knife-wielding chefs put on a dazzling display nightly at this steakhouse at the north end of Waikiki. Steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster and vegetables are prepared on a traditional teppan grill with great theatrical flair. With a sumptuous sushi bar, comfortable lounge area and great location, this restaurant is a treat. Whether or not you're already familiar with Japanese tableside cooking, it's worth a visit. There is another location on Maui in the old whaling town of Lahaina.
This was the worst experience i have ever had in a restraunt. When discussing my opinion with the manager, he screamed at the top of his lungs and ran in the back. Bad food, horrible service, do not eat here ever, there are plenty of other fine restraunts on the island.
Don't go here. We read all of the positive reviews on here and since there were only a couple of negative ones, we chose to eat at Kobe. Big mistake! For starters, the ventilation is awful. There is so much smoke in the air it is hard to breath and our eyes were watering almost immediately. The chef arrived with a dirty apron on. We ordered a couple of items off of the sushi menu which were absolutely awful. We have better sushi in Oklahoma. The grilled items tasted burned. One of the worst dining experiences we've ever had.
I laugh at the negative comments about Kobe Steak House. We've been going there for 11 years and the place is one of our favorites. I've hosted large work functions there, entertained out of town guest, and enjoyed both romantic and family dinners there. So when I read some of the negative comments, I immediately think they are the exception definately not the rule! If you go, order the fried rice it is worth it. Also, some of the older comments (two plus years ago) don't account for the new tables and exhaust fans the restaurant has installed. I've never found the experience to be overly hot except what the chef lights the volcano!
If you like good Japanese food, go to Kobe's. But remember, if you have a bad attitude or are being rude you might just get the same back. It's common sense people.
The food there had a yummy taste, though the steak couldn't beat the Banihana of Tokyo's one. It had a rough chew to it. The chef we had was not as talented as the Banihana one, though, he was as friendly. The service was a typical one. It was pretty good though. We finally heard some waitress speak cantonese. My dad got sick from there, but I guess it was because he didn't feel good at the time. I had no experiance from the manager. I didn't meet the manager there. Overall, It was a good experiance.
I love this resturant. It has awesome food. Also, it's cool that they cook right in front of you. I had a wondeful experience. The whole zen of the place is relaxing and a wonderful environment for people of all ages!
Our expierence at this place was a disaster.
It was extremely hot in the building and the exhuast vent over our table was not working. The table service was worse than the ambience. Our host complained to the manager and was embarrassed by the response. He was told in an ugly tone that we had a choice of accepting or leaving. Having come in several cabs, we made the mistake of staying only to find that the food was the lowest point of the evening.
You will get better food, better service, better value and have more fun eating at one of the street vendors.
we used to go there at least twice a month, at one point we were going once a week, now we don't go there at all because we live on the big island of hawaii and they don't have kobe's up here. food is awesome, a bit exspensive, but to me if it taste good why not pay for it. the gm is very nice, emerson and i hope my favorite cook is still there when i go there, jiru!!!! i love there mustard sauce and ginger sauce! they should start selling there sauce, package it up and sell it. great idea, i think.
we loved everything about this place, especially the tropical drinks! i know that teppanyaki restaurants are supposed to be known for their knife wielding chefs, however this place should be known for their wonderful tropical drinks such as the lava flows and kobe specials as well as their awesome food. see you guys again soon!
