Amick's Deep Sea Fishing
This experienced outfit is equipped with the gear and the expertise to provide great fishing adventures for everyone from the novice to the serious angler. Daily charters upon Amicks' 41-foot, custom-built fishing vessels leave from the Bull River Marina at 7a and return at 6p, providing a full day of deep sea fishing for about $95 per person. Rates include rod, reel, bait and tackle, but lunch and beverages are your responsibility. Reservations are strongly suggested, particularly during the peak season, but walk-ups are welcome as available.
Rarely do fishing charters with the family exceed my expectations but my 5 hr charter on the Knot BS with Captain Brad and first mate Shawn did exactly that. I had my wife and two kids with me and the promise to a 12 year old that he would catch a shark. Well how does two 300lb + Tiger sharks sound. Both brought in by my two boys. Memory of a life time. Brad and Shawn were extremely professional and knowledgeable and put us on fish right away. They handled these two monsters as if we were on the discovery channel. Knew exactly what to do to help my 12 year old bring in this monster and tagged and released. I was actually kinda glad the 500 pounder that tried to steal one of our sea bass never took the bait for our third shark. I don't think I could have handled that one. Great trip, great captain and mate and great memories. First impressions of the boat were kinda worrisome but I am glad i didn't judge this book by its cover. I will book again with captain Brad anytime. Other charters had bigger and prettier boats at a higher price but I considered this trip a great value.
Sometimes "these things happen," even if factually correct, simply isn't a good enough excuse.
Four months ago, I booked a six-person deep sea fishing trip with Amick's. It was to be a pseudo-bachelor party, albeit one that began at 7am, a rather ungodly party hour. But it seemed like a fun way to spend a day with friends a few weeks before my wedding.
But at 6pm the evening before the trip, after I'd already spent a significant amount of money on various food and beverages for the big day, I got a voice mail from Amick's telling me that, because of a problem with the boat, the trip was cancelled.
When I attempted to call them back, I got their voicemail. In the meantime, I attempted to find another charter fishing company with an opening, but on such short notice, everyone in Savannah was already long since booked. By the time Amick's finally called me back some ninety minutes later, they explained, somewhat unapologetically, that these things happen and that they were as unhappy about the situation as I was. Highly doubtful. They also said they they hated when this happens. From the sounds of it, it's a common occurrence for them. They said they'd mail me a check for my deposit and that was that. Like two ships -- one of which was probably being towed and perhaps taking on water -- passing in the night, Amick's and I went our separate ways.
But unbeknownst to them, my pseudo-bachelor party had been ruined, and for the rest of my days, I'll be able to look back and remember how Amick's Deep Sea Fishing and their decrepit fleet of boats royally screwed me over.
So if you're looking to book a charter fishing trip on or around Tybee Island, pick someone else. Because Amick's is awful and completely unreliable.
First ocean fishing trip ive ever been on and it will not be the last. Captain Brian Stewart did exactly what he said he would do. He put us directly on top of Cobia. I put a 72 lbs monster on the boat. He is very layed back and knows exactly what to do and where to go. If you want a fishing trip to remember go with Amicks and ask for Captain Brian. He is the man.
At 64, I've been on a lot of guided fishing trips but this one was the best! Doesn't hurt that we caught a bunch of fish. Capt. Brad is a consummate professional and went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable two-day outing.
I don't know when I'll ever get back to Savannah (I live in Oklahoma) but when I do, I sure hope he's around!
Capt. Zack and his first mate "Red" were AWESOME!!! We were traveling to Tybee for a family vacation and I decided to surprise my Husband and 7 year old son with a deep sea fishing trip. I located Amicks Deep Sea Fishing called and booked the trip, then I went online and looked at some of the reviews on this site about Zack and about Amick's Fishing and I got a little upset because based on what the reviews said I thought I had made the wrong choice. But I decided everyone has an opinion and I would just go ahead and take the trip with Capt Zack and First Mate "Red" on the boat "Guess Who" and make my own opinion, so here goes this trip was well worth the money, Capt Zack based the entire trip around my son, me, and my husband he made sure we were comfort and most off all that we ALL caught FISH! He paid extra attention to detail with our son and made the charter very special for him, he even let him drive the boat. I am not sure who the other reviewers were on the boat with, because Capt Zack and First Mate "Red" were wonderful and we could not have asked for better!!!!
Capt. Zack and his first mate Ryan were first rate. My 10 and 12 year
old sons along with myself and their grandfather had a wonderful time.
We caught lots of fish (300 lbs.plus). I have fished many trips Atlantic
as well as Gulf over the years, this one was one of the best. I will
be back and will request Capt. Zack and Ryan next year. FIVE STARS
FOR SURE !
Me and my 3 boys have been out with Capt Brad on 3 trips in the past 3 years he has treated my boys like they were is little brothers they really look up to him he knows what he is doing and gives you the most for your money. My boys and cant wait to go back this year they talk about it all the time so I cant complain about anything and we have always caught fish. Just to let evryone know this is not a cruse ship it is a fishing boat so if you want to fish give Capt Brad a call if you want ride around and call it fishing look at one of the party boats.
Camp. Zach of Amick's Deep Sea Fishing totally ruined our kids vacation. Camp. Zach didn't even have bait and was very rude after I paid him $530.
We fished for about 20 minutes with 2 poles with 6 people.I would not recommend people to step foot on boat with him.
