Savannah Riverboat Cruises, Savannah

My wife and I were on our honeymoon last week in Savannah, and we heard about this and thought it would be perfect. We stopped in the Riverboat office on River St. I was asking the person about the cruises and told her we were on our honeymoon. She told us the "Moonlight Cruise" would be perfect for us, "Romantic cruise down the river, nice music for romantic dancing, drinks available, and a complimentary picture". Well that wounded great. As we got to the ticket taker he told us our tickets were good for ANYWHERE on the 2nd or 3rd deck. Then we had our picture taken. As it was very hot, we decided we'd start off sitting in the air conditioned area on the 2nd deck. We were quickly and rudely told unless we were there for the private party to get out. We then made it to the 3rd deck, and searched to find a nice seat, out on the deck. We finally found one, and not long after the cruise started. I wanted to get us something to drink and it litterally took between 15-20 minutes. There were 2 windows to the bar and 1 bartender alternating. They were out of almost everything, the bartender explaining they ONLY stock the bar once a day. The music played was NOT nice romantic music, but R&B, Hip-Hop and Rap. Also smoking is allowed anywhere on the outside areas, which sucks if you are down wind from it. Lots of young kids running wild. The romantic cruise basically showcases the shipping and wastelands of Savannah. Nothing romantic about it. The following day I went to the office to complain. The manager basically told me it was my fault as its NOT a romantic cruise but a dance party cruise and I should have asked more questions. Then she asked what I wanted. When I told her Id settle for even half a refund she stated that shes only the manager and she cant make a decision like that. She did tell me the owner would be back in 10-15 min. We came back about 20 min later. When I told an employee why I was there they went to get the manager, and she would NOT come out of the back to talk to us, just gave word that the owner never came back. Oh and the "complimentary" photo was $15 CASH ONLY. The bar was also CASH ONLY. This cruise may not be that expensive but it was a complete waste of time and money. We could have done something a lot better than sit on a boat, listen to music we hate, put up with kids running wild, and be treated to sites we'd rather not have seen. I wouldnt have given this cruise any stars but 1 star = awful, from my experience it was more than awful. I wish I had read some of the other reviews here before I went. I dont know how they can get away with calling this a romantic cruise, its anything but. Maybe if you want a Hip Hop Dance party youd like it, but why not go to a club? STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRUISE!!!! IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, COMPLETE RIP OFF!!!!

It was horrible in everyway. We were the 1st on the boat after waiting an hour in line and complaining that we wanted on the second boat. Very Very rude people boarding you. We got what we thought were good seats and saw maybe 4 fireworks the whole time because it was overcrowded and everyone was standing to be able to see them and the boat kept turning. The boat was very dirty too, with people smoking and I had 2 little kids. Would never never recommend. I say do I pub crawl instead cheaper and was a lot of fun!

The pone number listed is very hoakie-- no answering service and the office is somehow closed at 9:30 AM SAVANNAH time.... the company is in savannah!!! The phone number pressures the buyer to go online to get tickets. no refund. Something felt off so I came to look at reviews. My husband is a soldier and we are planning our R and R trip. We wanted something romantic. With out these truthfull reviews-- we would have made a terrible mistake. It's obvious the only good ratings are company employees. "With a new ship"..... HOAKIE. I am glad you met your wife on here, fella'.... but APPEAL TO EMOTION NOT A BOAT RIDE DOTH MAKE. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY-- I am going to try to see what Hilton head, which is an hour away, has to offer. I hate it when companies take advantage of tourists.

I do not recommend the Riverboat tour unless you are an "industrial scenary" enthusiast. Nothing like the refreshing rotten smell of waste water from the paper mill! mmmm. My favorite part was when the tour guide pointed out the heeping pile of scrap metal, destined for China. Additionally, the pile of wood telephone poles was equally attractive. This cruise was relaxing, until lunch was finished and all the obnoxious middle school children came up to the third deck. $60 was wasted on this tour. Don't waste your time and money on it, there are plenty other exciting things to see or do in Savannah.

The tour was BORING. If you like looking at freighters in dock and hearing (when you could understand what was being said) about the cargo on board and where the freighters were from then you might be interested in this tour. The river smelled like a sewer. I was surprised to see it rated slightly above average until I read the reviews. Some of the reviewers gave 3 stars and then followed with a poor review, so that explains that. The ship itself was nice. We met a very nice couple. That is the only positive of the trip. The 1 hour cruise left 10 minutes late, but arrived back on schedule. I had difficulty understanding the tour guide due to poor speakers and a heavy southern accent. I agree 100% with the reviewer who said, "An hour of my life I'll never get back." Unfortunately, we only had 1 afternoon in Savannah and we wasted most of it waiting for this tour and on the boat. I would definitely NOT recommend this tour!

The title is very misleading, "Savannah's Riverboat Cruises". It should be called "A floating tour of cargo ships and dirty, smelly, run down factories. The scenery was far nicer on route 95. Guess there is a reason that there is a "No refund" policy in affect. Ended up being a 50 minute tour, and only first 2 and last 3 minutes of tour are of attractive riverfront (the same one you can see up close by walking along it), rest is commercial shipping and nasty factories.

My husband, toddler and I really enjoyed the dinner cruise. The price was reasonable for two buffet dinners and entertainment (a deejay). Be prepared to pay extra for drinks, even non-alcolholic. It is two hours long away from port. Just long enough in my opinion. There isn't a whole lot to see as far as points of interest. However, the boat is huge and there is plenty of room to roam so people can have privacy and enjoy the view. We saw a great sunset. Our toddler was able to run around the second deck without bothering anyone else. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The food was good and plentiful. I would recommend the dinner cruise.

The riverboat itself was awesome. The guide and Captain was awesome. The atmosphere yuk. Not very scenic to see clunky old shipyards and junk on the side of the banks. I was expecting something more scenic. I enjoyed just being outside with a small coat on instead of my heavy winter coat. They did sell us a picture which was a nice feature.

With a newly purchased & completely remodeled boat, this company seems to really be making a turn around. I come to Savannah every year and took the dinner cruise last June. After taking my son on a sightseeing cruise on their newest addition, I was very impressed! I could still smell the freshness of the paint and carpet. I will definitely return and bring my family for another dinner cruise.

When i visited the place i had some much .I never been on a cruise until that day and i had some fun when i visited i was with a program but i still enjoy myaself but this time when i come its going to be my family .but to stay on point i love everything about the cruise i love the food the people they made us all feel very welcome and calm cause all that water cause i no i was scared and alot more of people but we really did enjoy our selve and hope to see you guys soon.
