A popular bistro with the young, hip crowd, Sapphire Grill is a classy blend of trendy and elegant. Three floors include a main dining room and expansive bar, a more quiet and romantic third floor, and a wine cellar dining room available for parties. Menu items change with the seasons and allow the restaurant to offer fresh ingredients, especially seafood. Sapphire Grill offers beef and veal dishes and a house special, Lamb Lollipops. Vegetarians need not steer clear; try the Vegetable Tart. Desserts here take the cake, so, save room.
The food was unremarkable, especially considering the price. Service was fine although the entree I wanted wasn't available the night we were there. The quality of the food was fine, but the preperation left a great deal to be desired. My wife's entree was burned and my steak was done correctly, but came up lacking because of the very bland way it was prepared. Very disappointed in the overall experience. We won't be back.
We are from St. Paul, MN and went to Savannah for our anniversary. The Sapphire Grill was supposed to be our elegant night out.
The hostess was rude, the waitress was worse. I'm not used to being treated as though I'm not even present. Usually ladies are served first, even though I don't count myself as old fashioned, but I found it rude and disrespectful that my husband had to also repeat almost everything I said before the waitress would acknowledge the request. We sat at a tiny, tiny table, and on wooden folding chairs that looked like something from Ikea. We were checked on once, during appetizers, and once more during dinner. That's it.
The food was not anything worth the 100$ we paid for the meal. We can get better seafood here in the Midwest. Very disappointed, and told the staff at the B&B about our experience so that others could be warned.
I had expected this to be a fine choice for dinner based on past press, but i was surprised by the shear elegance and outstanding quality of the food. Number 1 in savannah for sure and probably the southeast corridor. You could not steer wrong here the chef is masterful with fresh organics and top rate seafood and beef.
