Great trip! Thanks Perry!
By dbbuf1970, 7/2/11
I went with an old highschool buddy and his two sons went down the class IV-V section a couple weeks ago. Our guide was Perry, and he was great!! We got hung up a couple times, but we expected that in the low water. It was only a few seconds of inconvenience during the day long trip. In fact, all of the guides navigated the river with ease. One was a trainee. It was amazing to me that the guides could get the rafts to go whever they wanted with a bunch of inexperienced paddlers. The guides knew exactly what to do and everything went smooth. A couple of the guides were female. I figured they would not be able to maneuver the rafts as well as the guys (I thought alot of it would be a strength thing...sorry). Proved me very wrong. They highly stress safety which was nice because it was my first time rafting. I will definitely use Southeastern Expeditions again, and highly recommend.

Won't be back to SEE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/11
Same complaints as everybody else - we got stuck with a trainee & spent the day on the rocks. Horrible experience. I've used them once before & had a great experience. I guess they figure they're established enough now that they don't need to entice repeat customers. Sad. It was great the first time but this experience ruined it. I will not be back. Too much money for such a miserable time.

We had an amazing time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/14/11
Everything about our trip was awesome. We took a group of 8 people (two rafts of four). Two people from our group had never been rafting before and the rest had. We did the adventure tour. We followed the suggestions on their website and left our valuables at home. The views while you are rafting are breathtaking, and there is no other way to see them. The guides had a fun attitude but knew when to get serious, we always felt that we were in good hands. Everyone in our group had an amzing time and we are planning to go back again.

I wouldn't go back if they paid me.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/10
Our guide, Joe Stopak, was inept and had us going in circles and stuck on rocks a large part of the trip. One of our group fell out and he was unable to get her back in the boat. He also lost my expensive sunglasses I gave him for safekeeping. Management (Lance) hasn't replied to my complaints yet. I wouldn't go back if they paid me!

I will be back again and again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/14/08
My husband and I had never gone white river rafting before, so didn't know exactly what to expect. Southeastern Expeditions took us on their section IV rapids and it was amazing! Our guide, Billy, gave clear concise commands so we always knew whether to be paddling forward or backward or ducking down into the raft. He made sure to tell us the names of all the rapids and pointed out several historical parts of the river. I would highly recommend SEE to anyone who either has experience or not.

Adventure of a Lifetime!
By kate, 6/2/08
After a lot of research on the Chattooga River Outfitters, I selected Southeastern Expeditions. Since 3 of the 4 in our group had some experience, we opted for the more challenging Section IV. Jim, our wonderful guide patiently brought us together as a team. He was well-traveled, a trained medic, and did a great job making sure we got the most our of our day. After some paddling practice, we hit 7-foot falls where 3 of us quickly fell out, learning to respect the river. After that, we got our sea legs and remained in our raft throughout the day, including the incredibly fearsome 5 Falls section at the very end of the run. Stops including sliding down rapids, jumping off rock cliffs and climbing down into a tunnel that came out under a small waterfall. Jim was well-traveled, a wonderful instructor, first-aid trained and really made out trip especially interesting as he pointed out sights along the way. The whole day was a heart-pounding thrill, and I can't wait to go back again! Thanks Jim, and thanks Southeastern for a day we will always remember. I haven't had so much fun in years!

Low water can't be helped...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/17/08
It doesn't matter which company you go with, if there hasn't been any rain for a month, you are going to get stuck on rocks. The wonderful thing about the Chattooga is that it is not dam controlled, and the three rafting companies all work together to ensure the safety of the guests. Southeastern is undoubtedly the most exciting company to go with. While the other two have more regimented trips, the guides at Southeastern clearly enjoy their jobs and love being river guides.

Go with NOC
By David, 6/12/07
I've been on the Chattooga several times with Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC). They have always been great. You should give them a try. Their guides are great fun and stressed safety a lot. Seems like they do real well with kids. They're using self-bailing rafts (my guide said NOC was the only outfitter using them on all their trips). They had new guides training on our trip but they were in another raft by themselves.

Bad Rafting Experience
By joseph, 5/15/07
This past weekend, I took a rafting trip with Southeastern Expeditions (SEE) in Clayton, Georgia. I am NOT recommending their services. I was originally referred to SEE by a friend, the same friend one who actually accompanied me on this trip. We paid for our Class IV and Class V rapids but ended up in a training raft spending more time bumping other rafts, pushing off rocks, missing the real rapids and helping our guide navigate the river than enjoying the fun and adventure of the white water rafting. There were NO pictures of us going down the rapids, but lots of pictures of us being stuck on rocks and our raft tipping over because of a bad approach to the rapid. We had to empty water from our raft more than any of the other rafts. When we informed SEE management our trip was less than we expected, we were told by SEE that SEE needs to train their guides and sorry they did it on our time and money but they still charged us full price. The closest they came to making a compromise was, Sorry we did not inform you in advance that we were training a guide. I feel I should have sent SEE a bill for helping to train their guide. Im totally surprised and frustrated that SEE has taken the position of no refunds, discounts, not even a voucher for another trip. I explained my point several times to at least three of their management; we paid for an exciting trip but got an amusement park ride and did not feel we received our money worth. Even customers in other rafts stated to SEE they felt we were short changed and they even spoke on our behalf to SEE saying those guys did not receive a fair value for their money. What was more upsetting was SEE management has been stubborn saying they did their part which was getting us down the river and back safely. I asked what about customer satisfaction? Their reply was we can not control whether youre happy or not. So, if you want a good adventure rafting, steer away from Southeastern Expeditions, or take your chances.
