Dogwood Golf & Country Club

Description

Centered around a large, convoluted lake, the course at Dogwood presents a barrage of water hazards sufficient to test the mettle of any serious golfer. The tight, par-72 bentgrass course negotiates a twisting path of doglegs and double-backs along its 6375-yard (5830-meter) length. Green fees, including cart, are USD43 on weekdays and USD45 on weekends, with a twilight special of USD35 most weekdays. A driving range, small pro shop and rental clubs are also available. Dogwood is located about 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta, and is open to the public.

Challenging and fun for all levels
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/08
Dogwood, as said by others, plays longer than the card but it can be enjoyed by long and short hitters. It is a naturally beautiful layout with lakes, streams, creeks, lots of hardwoods and a rolling terrain. Best of all no homes on course...just trees bordering course. Lots of slope on and around greens add to required finesse Front and back nines are very different courses but both place a premium on placement of tee shots. Most birdies opportunities will come on front nine. Back nine plays more difficult. If you keep it in the fairway off the tee, chip decently and avoid three putts you'll score OK. Dogwood will be the most family friendly environment you've ever played. Its laid back and kids, ladies and seniors will all be welcomed. It is what I would call a recreational club, not a social club but a great value for the dollar if playing golf is your prime interest.

Best Kept Secret
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/07
Although the yardage seemed short on the scorecard, Dogwood played much longer than it is. The fairways and greens are impeccable! Very friendly staff and members. It was a low key atmosphere and was not a stuffy place to play, unlike some other courses in the area. The fairways require strategic placement and the greens are equally aschallenging. Great food at the grill and awesome service made this club a top rate pick! With membership rates at uncomparable prices, it is a great value.

Great Hidden Track
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/4/06
Although it is not a super long golf course from the back tees it plays harder than you think. I am a scratch golfer and i still find it tough the greens can be a little slow in the summer but atleast the stay alive unlike most courses in the area. super staff and is well hidden go play it

Slow as a Snail
By Kick, 4/20/06
The layout is ok, however the greens are slower than a snail stuck in glue. I think it could be an ok course given the right greens but until they mow there greens about 30 times I can't golf there. Although the members and the people in the bar are super nice.

Great little SECRET!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/05
Course is relatively short and one would think easy to master. The greens putt like one of a kind. The fairways are plush as they can be. The layout is incredible. Very nice staff players and personal very friendly. Played with a member Brad Coley super nice guy. Would go back anytime.
