Founded in 1990 by Ruth Barrett, a talented painter, the Lansdell Galleries is moved up from its humble beginnings in an apartment to a huge converted warehouse. The exposed brick walls and trussed ceilings lend character to this place. The impressive inventory features a wide variety of paintings and sculpture in many styles, including figurative, abstract, landscape, still life and many others. Works by both emerging craftsmen and award-winning established artists are featured in equal number, lending a lively atmosphere of discovery to the place unequaled by most area galleries.
I have purchased several pieces of art from various artists including Ruth Barrett the owner. There is not an artist or piece of art in the gallery not worthy of the choosiest buyers. Having walked through a lot of galleries which inevitably have one or two artists whose work is worthy...every piece from every artist at Lansdell is top notch. The atmosphere is excellent and Ruth makes the experience even more enjoyable with her knowledge and warm spirit.
There are always a wide variety of art and artists. Ruth the owner is very warm and helpful. I have purchased numerous pieces and we love them. She has a great eye for bringing in up and coming talent.
