Located in Candler Park, right in the heart of Atlanta, this small golf course may not be in the most rustic of settings, but its short layout is great for an afternoon of casual fun. Perfect for the beginner, Candler Park is a short nine-hole course that can be repeated for a par of 64. Tiger Woods himself shot a 30 on one go 'round. See website for rates, a course history, and a photo spread on the young Mr. Woods' visit.

Perfect golf for casual enjoyment
By David, 05/05/09
Candler Park is a course located about 20 minutes out of the heart of the city. If you are a beginner it is the perfect place to improve your game because of the different looks at relatively short holes you will see. For the more experienced it also is a place to improve because the narrow greens and undulation require you to make decisions that will help when you play other courses. The value is outstanding (around $10) and the exercise you will get going up and down around this nine hole definitely will give you a workout. I my opinion if the game of golf is to expand and grow in the future more courses like this should be promoted because it gives you a chance to learn and enjoy the game without going broke. Warm up before coming because there is only a practice putting green and prepare to be patient because most of the golfers are casual or beginners (also look out for yourself because of this fact). If you are off or in town for business and want to put in a quick round I can't think of a better course in Atlanta to do so. Don't come expecting country club amenities in the clubhhouse or on the course and you won't go away disappointed.

Perfect for learners; frustrating for the experienced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/07
You can't pay $7 greens fees and expect Augusta National. The Candler Park golf course is in less-than-stellar condition, the greens especially are pretty rough, and the more experienced golfers will spend a lot of time waiting, since the course is often filled with beginners. But, for the beginners, it's perfect. Cheap golf, semi-challenging holes, and a remarkably laid-back atmosphere (jeans . . . flip-flops . . . who cares?). I like going with a few friends and a cooler full of beers.
