Centennial Olympic Park

Description

This park, created for the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta, has 21 acres (8.5 hectares) of green space, rock gardens and artwork. The nearly 500,000 commemorative bricks that make up its main walkway were part of fund raising efforts for the Games. During scorching Atlanta summers, children frolic in the ground-level Olympic Rings, which periodically shoot streaming arcs of water in time to the seven light and music concerts put on throughout the day. Flags honoring the nations that have played host to the Olympics in the past surround the fountain.

Bring the family, significant other or yourself
By ,
A great spot to chill out with the ones you love, whether friends, family or pets, or to enjoy on your own. The fountains are great to splash about in during the summer, and you'll get some lovely pics too. You can also walk along the walkways and read the bricks that people purchased and dedicated. There are some wonderful works of art dedicated to the 1996 Olympics, including a listing of all the medallists for the sports fanatics. The concert series are also fun and well-attended. There's lots to do at Centennial, so bring your toys, or a blanket and some food, and just relax.

The memories of glories!
By ,
When in the Park, I saw the names of the sportpeople that wrote the history, they fought for an ideal, for a gol: most of them got what they wanted, all of them won their own soul. I like all of the Park, nothing bad.

A magical experience
By ,
The park was beautifully manicured and clean; a perfect venue for outdoor concerts or just sitting in the sun. Don't miss out on Centennial Olympic Park in the winter! When the decorations are up and it snows, it's the "2nd" most magical place on Earth!

Hidden Gem

The Olympic park may not be the reason why you come to Atlanta, but it should be one of the must stops. The atmosphere and the way you feel walking in the grass, or looking at the names on the bricks, it's something different.

Enjoy your stay with a beautiful view
By ,
well, this place is right in the heart of Atlanta and it looks very attractive once you are inside the gorgeous park. It has several entrance around it with shiney, pointy short steel bars wall. Inside, there are plenty of garden area and flowers. alot of walk ways made of bricks are going across it. there is a square hut in the middle which is a cafe mainly for snacks and tea etc. And, there are fountains right beside the cafe. These fountains are not your ordinary fountain. They do someting special. Every now and then, a music is played by the fountains and these colorfull fountains go with the music. Its like the living Audio Analyzer of your juke box. Near this park is the famous GEORGIA DOME. which also is one of its kind. this place is a must GO and must ENJoY.

Exciting

It was very exciting for me to go to olympic park, because I am a big fan of the olympic. Atlanta is where I fell in love with gymnastics. The park was very nice and the plaques helped to guide you. The water park fountain was fun to play in.
