This is the only working monastery in the state, and was founded in 1944 by a group of 20 Cistercian monks from Kentucky. A daily mass is held and is open to the public. On the 13th of every month, Nancy Fowler comes to speak on what she claims to be her visions from the Virgin Mary. The monks operate a gift shop on site offering fresh baked breads, and there is also a greenhouse and plant shop featuring authentic Japanese bonsai.
