Don't let the 20-foot (six-meter) skull that serves as an entryway deter you from enjoying the best burgers and pub food in the city. When club-hopping in Atlanta, a visit to this late-night spot is a must. This fun restaurant offers big portions, low prices and good food. The award-winning Vortex Burger is a half-pound (0.22 kilograms) burger with all the trimmings and there is a choice of pub-style sandwiches and salads. Vegetarian alternatives and non-beef sandwiches are available, while beers from all around the world serve as the popular foundation for most guests' evenings.
The place is real small on the inside, which is a plus, great beer selection. Getting to the burgers. Not sure if they live up to the hype, taste fine, nothing special, did not have the death burger, but my brother did and felt the same way I did. The tater tots add a nice junior high school touch. Will go back but not for the burgers.
Yes, if you’re an uppity, pretentious snob the Vortex is probably not the place for you. No, if you’re expecting a server who will bend over to kiss your rear end the Vortex is probably not the place for you.
HOWEVER, if you’re looking for one of the best burgers in the South in one of the coolest joints around the Vortex IS the spot for you.
Here are my favorite burgers:
1.) Ragin’ Cajun
2.) Buffalo Blue Burger
3.) Black ‘n Spicy
My only real complaint is that they took away three of their best appetizers - the Mexican Heart Attacks, the fried Jalapeños and those Southwestern Eggrolls.
Other than, hands down one of my favorite place sin Atlanta.
The atmosphere once you enter through the doors changes from "small town" to "biker's haven". The food is cheap, the service is phenomenal, and you can drink for hours and never order the same kind of beer twice. Selection is great for EVERYBODY, including vegetarians, meat eaters, and the pickiest eaters imaginable. You have got to try this place out. The first time you go, I guarantee, you will begin planning your next trip back!
Hamburger is not worth Vortex's terrible service...

I wouldn't eat here again if my life depended on it. A few of my friends and I decided to try Vortex to celebrate a birthday. The waiter was very sarcastic and unnecessarily rude when we asked about items on the menu. We asked for separate checks and we were told it would be no problem. When the bill came, not only did we receive only one check, but the waiter decided to slap an 18% gratiuty on the check for himself since it was six people although his service was horrible and degrading. Seeing that we didn't think he was worthy of an 18% tip, we asked for and spoke with the manager who told us that the tip was required and that he would call the cops on us if we didn't pay the tip. IT was RIDICULOUS!!! We proceeded to pay because we didn't want to ruin the birthday celebration. The manager took the money and the waiter very rudely said, "It better all be here." DON'T EAT HERE UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH PAYING FOR HORRIBLE SERVICE.
