Description

The par is 72. Gold Tees are 6627 yards with a slope of 129. Blue Tees are 6239 yards with a slope of 124. White Tees are 5573 yards with a slope of 113. Rio Pinar is a stately, mature course that hosted the Florida Citrus Open on the PGA Tour in the 1970s. Tall pines shade a number of dogleg fairways. The compact greens are in excellent shape and are receptive to approach shots. Traditional bunkering guards the greens and intrudes into a few fairways. This is a good solid course. The par-5s on the front nine are short; those on the back nine are longer. Most of the par-3s will have you hitting long irons. Mark Mahannah designed this course, and it was finished in 1959. This is a private golf course. Soft spikes only.

Hidden Jewel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/07
Within minutes of downtown Orlando, the Rio Pinar Country Club surprised us all. A wonderful golf course tucked amidst well groomed neighborhoods, you would never know it was there unless someone told you. Driving range, a nice dining facility. The only drawback is the restaurant's limited hours due to a dwindling membership. If you are searching for a private, intimate and most importantly, convenient club located within minutes of downtown and the airport, Rio Pinar cannot be beat.

a bit of history

I think rio pinar c/c is a very nice place.I've grown up in orlando, and was in high school when the pga played there. I've enjoyed playing this wonderful course and the challenges it can bring. I can trufully say that the average golfer will have his hands full when he plays this course. The staff are very pleasent, and willing to help at any thing they can to made the day go well.

WAY old school
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/05
what great potential! it looks as though it was abandoned in the 70's. the pool is such a magnificent centerpiece to have been neglected. with such a one of a kind aminity, why not really accentuate it's look. i realize members don't join for the pool. but it is a real shame to see the club so unkept.

Fantastic course in the heart of Orlando. Friendly service from the staff. Had the pleasure of meeting Mike, the head pro.
