Orlando Science Center

Description

Orlando Science Center is a glistening structure that is highlighted by the dome of the John Young Planetarium and looks like the product of a meeting between Greco-Roman architects and Star Trek engineers. The analogy applies to inside activities as well. The museum strives to teach kids (and adults) about classical science using modern, hands-on, sometimes high-tech activities. With 207,000 square feet, the museum houses 10 themed exhibit halls where patrons can explore the human body, modern technology, the solar system and other topics. The exhibits often change, so you can always learn something new. Its eight-story CineDome is billed as the world's largest movie theater. It shows large-format nature/technology films.

It is a pg13 place
By King of fantasy, 3/4/10
The only thing that was good was the price. Is a great city for kids, but no for adults wanting to see science.

But my kids loved it and if they had a great time so did I! Its a good learning experienc for kids and worth the money we all got in for 56 dollars. laser light shows at OSC
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/26/07
Rather dull because you don't really see laser beams, just the images projected onto the cinedome screen, most of which are corny. I wouldn't consider this a real laser light show, and it's somewhat misleading that they choose to call it that. Incidently, they pick some really lame songs for the rockin' 80's show. Gets old after the first 2 songs. Don't bother.

Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/07
During the summer my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out something to do rather than go to the theme parks like we usually do. I've always heard about the Science Center but never went. My boyfriend and I decided that instead of wasting the day we'd give this place a shot. We ended up loving it. It was tons of fun & there's so much to do. It's better than waiting in lines all day with people screaming, sweating, and all the tourists waiting to get on a ride that lasts 5 minutes. This place is affordable and lots of fun. They have a huge theater where you have a selection of movies to see that were very interesting and educational in a fun and non boring way. I recommend this place because we sure had a blast. [ Just to let you know, I'm not a huge science nerd either =] ]

Low Cost - High Intrigue & Knowledge
Since my children have been 3 and 4 years old, they have indulged in the adventures of this powerful organization. What a delight it is to know that we can see movies without ratings though packed with life's lessons, thrilling historical accounts of anything and everything as well as understand everything from the human body to the solar system. NO WHERE in Orlando can a family go to a local complex with a Gold Plan at a cost of ONLY $110.00 annually, (2004) and have free parking, free admissions and access to several movies. If you are not a member, you are missing out on one of the greatest adventures in Orlando!
