Skip Gatorland, try this instead
Today we took our family to Bill's Airboat Adventures, and had a great time. Captain Bill is knowledgeable, opinionated, experienced, and confident - all great attributes in a backwater tour guide. He knew that river and swamp like the back of his hand, and could spot gators long before we did, and was able to get pretty close to them - literally feet away. This experience is one that we will treasure for a long time, and is 'anti-tourist' - meaning that while we *are* tourists, it is a genuine experience, not a pre-manufactured, consistently dosed, spoon fed, sanitized for your protection, fully automated, big industry certified and approved 'fun' like in the big parks.
We considered going to Gatorland, but the thought of seeing fat gators in big swimming pools eat hot dogs wasn't our cup of tea. Instead, we chose to go where the gators live naturally - and that included all the birds, mud, crabs, swamp rabbits, and deer e could handle.
The indian mound was worth the trip alone. You'll know when you go.
We saw baby gators, big gators, in-between gators, more birds than you can shake a stick at, and have already re-watched our home videos twice... and we just went today.
Bottom line - do it. Tip heavily. Keep this man in business, give him the nobel prize for gator spotting, and call your vacation complete.
