Winter Pines Golf Course
Winter Pines Golf Course has a par of 67, Men's Tees of 5401 yards and slope 106 and Ladies' Tees of 4548 yards and slope 98. This Lloyd Clifton effort has some water, some sand and not much yardage. It is sort of an odd layout; the front nine has a par of 36, while the back nine has a par of 31. The lone par-5 is 472 yards long. The par-3s fall into two categories. Three of them are more than 200 yards. The other four are roughly 155 yards. The par-4s are all very short. This is a public golf course. Metal spikes are tolerated but not encouraged.
The starter clearly did not want me ( a woman) and my boys to play. No not children - young men in their 20's - He was very rude and made us feel anything but welcome. We left without playing and fortunately went elsewhere and had a great time!!
Started playing it again this summer. You have to play the course more than once. Sometimes it is very slow, but I've found that to be the exception. Last time I played 18, it was a 3:45 round. Never had a problem with anyone, either staff or other players. We've played through or even joined others when we had less than a foursome. Always a fun and relaxing time.
Played it a few times. Plays VERY, VERY slow. Condition is just OK, always full of construction, temporary greens, etc... Staff can be very rude. Many nicer, better courses around, I wouldn't play it again if it was free...
I love the high quality greens for the money. The course is undergoing some improvements that will make it even better. It's in amazing condition for such an inexpensive course. Good deals can be had at the snack bar as well. I think of it as the AirTran or Southwest of golf courses in Orlando.
Played here about 4 years ago and went back in late January 08. Played after noon and payed $17.50 including cart. Staff very friendly and my twosome was paired up with two local guys - had a real good time. Live in the north and hadn't played since October so this short course was good to get the rust off. It was in good shape and topped off by $6 pitchers of Bud. A real good alternative to the $100+ courses near Disney.
The staff at this place is great, value is tremendous, and course is always in great shape. Back nine is overloaded with long par 3's. Be careful around the practice greens. Younger patrons are the most rude I have ever encountered. You can clearly be putting to a hole and it is not unsual for someone to just start chipping or putting to the same hole without even asking for permission. Yeah, I get overcrowding and having to share, but be polite enough to ask. It would be helpful and very nonconfrontational for management to post a sign with some basic etiquette tips for those patrons who lack a proper upbringing.
The friendly folks out there remember you by name, and know exactly how to treat their customers. I cannot wait to play again here, at the best course in all of Orlando-topping out all others for overall excperience!
