Capone's Dinner & Show
Evoking the speakeasy of the 1920s and '30s Prohibition Era, this themed dinner show requires guests to come up with the secret password before they can be admitted to Al Capone's Infamous Underworld Cabaret. Shhh, tell 'em Joe sent you. Once inside, gangsters and flappers sing and dance in a lively musical comedy, complete with audience participation. Dinner is served while you watch: unlimited lasagna, pasta, chicken and other favorite Italian goodies, as well as beer and wine.
i didn't like the show. I went on 8/4/08 and it was honestly a waste of time. The food was horrible (it seemed like it was made days before, frozen and then put out). And on top of that everytime you went to get some food there was two or three things missing from the buffet bar at all times. I didn't even pay attention to the show because the plot was horrible. I don't think the show is kid friendly (it had inappropriate comments and actions, women wearing very revealing clothing, and a man dressed up as a woman). When we walked in it smelled horrible, the tables were uncomfortable but the waiters were very nice. I don't think it was worth the 25 we spent at all there, I would have been furious if we had spent the normal amount of 50. Although there is unlimited drinks, the liquor is really cheap and is never made right unless you order bud light. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. Save your money, trust me and go to medievil times. Medievil times is great, and worth the 25 more (I promise you that)
Capone's Dinner is an absolute must do if you're in the Orlando / Kissimmee area. The environment of the 30's era speak easy is carried through the evening by the entire staff of Capone's. The price if extremely reasonable for the ammount of fun you have. The beverages are very reasonably priced if not free with your ticket and if the show wasn't great enough by itself. The buffet meal is very delicious. As a fan of the 30-40's mob genre, I am very glad I got the chance to experience this event. And the stage show is very funny and worth every penny.
Capone's was a great time for the whole family. It's a great value for good food and a funny, entertaining show. We bought a drink in the bar so we could get priority seating. The prices in the bar were quite reasonable, including saving money on souvenir glasses. The food was served buffet style and was quite good for this type of place. You can eat and drink as much as you want. The show has some racy humor, but doesn't cross the line. With the readily available coupons this is a GREAT value and a fun way to spend an evening!
Capone's was great fun. As soon as you walk in the door the acting started. All the waiters were wise guys and the ladies were dames. The waiters stayed in character all night (they got to make many a joke at the customer's expense-which I'm sure is a server's dream).
The show was enjoyable, we especially liked the improvisation part with the 2 male characters. They incorporated the audience, which made it much more interesting to watch. And it was also funny to see those people get made fun of :-).
As a young dating couple we'd definetely recommend it if you have a great sense of humor. The food wasn't five star, but still pretty good. The buffet (pronounced with the T) was a good way to go and the rum runners were quite tasty. Overall for the price of 22.99 each (bring your half off ticket...they're everywhere) we thought it was a great buy. Much more affordable than the other theaters in the area, which we heard were good, but we are on a budget vacation.
Capone's is definitly a bargain at 1/2 off with coupon, which are every where in Orlando. Have done other dinner shows and by far Capone's has the best food. I'm not saying it's gourmet food but it's more than adequate. They have a buffet dinner and like most buffets some of the food is good and some not so good. Overall though the large number of choices suits all ages.
The Gangster waiters are a hoot, especially if you like sarcastic tough guys. The service was great our glasses never hit empty. Our Gangster/waiter was a big part of the fun.
The show was your typical Guys and Dolls type of musical comedy with an added twist of stand up comedy. The characters perform improv comedy with the audience to the delight of the class clown type of people. It was well worth the money, which is a huge compliment in over priced Orlando.
I wasn't really thrilled about the food choices at first, but then I realized it is different than the normal chicken and pork at the other dinner shows. And I thought it was good enough. Our waiter could have had a little more enthusiasm. I didn't like the fact that although we had reservations we still had to wait in regular line unless each person in the party bought a drink! AND most importantly we were stuck in a corner and it was sooooo hot! I had sweat running down the back of my legs. My husband and I had three kids with us and we were enjoying the show but were miserable from the heat! We complained about the heat and never got relief. I did wish the show had more "acting and comedy" and less singing . And intermission didn't feel like it was 1/2 way into the show, it was more like 3/4 of the way, so it was over too soon for the 2nd portion for me. Also, we never got asked for a password or anything, I didn't know about that until I read it here!
This is not something you go into for the food. The food was ok, its an itailan food buffett, so pasta and salad. The show was very entertaining and the drinks were included so this was a good value, but I did leave the meal hungry and disappointed with the food.
Overall, I enjoyed the entertainment and would probably go with a group of friends again, but I would not go back for a dinner for 2.
I loved Capone's. The employees really set the stage from the beginning, from the passcode in order to get in, the servers who remained in character, and the show itself. The buffet was great, offering a good variety of options in Italian and American cuisine (not to mention the all you can drink soda, beer, sangria and/or rum runners). The show itself was fun with alot of audience participation. Not exactly family friendly (tons of sexual inuendos) but still fun. Find a coupon in hotel brochures and coupon-saver books and save 1/2 off the ticket price for everyone in your party!
