Cafe Tu Tu Tango
Artists at work are the lure of this restaurant/studio that relies on some of the region's most creative folks to provide the dining atmosphere. In this artsy environment, tapas and other finger foods are the delectables of choice, including such selections as Baked Artichoke and Crabmeat Dip for your chips, Mango Duck Quesadilla, and Dijon Chicken Skewers. There is also a substantial wine list, along with a full bar. This warmly-colored lounge is intimate and laid-back, and the servers are real pros. Every wall is covered in artwork made by local artists, some of it made right in the cafe itself! Each piece of art on the walls is for sale, so at Cafe Tu Tu Tango, you can have your cake and buy a painting of it, too!
It is a tapas place, which means everything is in small portions. I prefer picking and choosing lots of things and everything i got was excellent. There was a metal worker making jewelry from old coins. Very interesting artwork all around the place and almost all of it was for sale and made by local artists. There were a pair of dancers swinging around the place dancing and moving to the music, very exciting to watch.
I have only been here once and cant wait for my second trip next week.
When you first walk in to Cafe Tu Tu Tango there are two artists painting outside. You can see all their art and they are very chatty and friendly. They dont try to sell you anything but the art was very beautiful. My daughter in particular liked the guitar one of the artists was painting. We called ahead (in the morning) so we went ahead of the walk-ins and got seated fairly fast. As soon as we got our table, the Bolivian dancers started dancing!! My wife and daughter immediately went down to see them. My little one was in awe - the dancing was beautiful. The girl dressed all in white and so was the man dancer. After about 10 minutes of dancing they got the crowd started by doing a congo line (the Bolivian version) then they had 12 ppl including most of us on the congo line all throughout the restaurant to beautiful rithmic music. After the conga line they all got in a big circle and the kids danced in the middle while parents proudly took photographs. So far so good. The atmosphere was great, the artists and dancers were great, the music was excellent...lets just see about the food!
The food tasted delicious but was small portions. We got steak skewers and I got carne asada - food, again, tasted great...but the portions were very very small - a bit dissappointing. All in all, I'll give this place a 5 star rating. We may not have chosen the right plates for our apetites.
I would come again to this restaurant for sure...the shows were cool, my wife got a reading from a tarot reader, the kids enjoyed it, the food was good, the service was good as well. Very cool
We go every time we are in Orlando and always take guests there. The place overwhelms the senses with entertainmeat(strolling musicians, belllydancers, contortionists, swordswallowers are some acts we have seen) and various medias of art on the walls. The tapas style allows you to choose from many ethic or regional items to share with the table. We love the Cuban steak skewers, dijon chicken skewers, maple lamb chops, duck quesadea, and hummus with pita.Sangria was great and a full bar is available.Never a dull moment at Cafe Tu Tu Tango!
We come from Ireland and just love everything about the restaurant -the atmosphere and of course the FOOD!!! We have nothing like it at home and go every year we are in Florida. My favourite is the pear and cheese on pecan crisps -the best ever!!!
