Fulton's Crab House
Housed in a building that overlooks one of Disney's lagoons, this eatery serves seafood in a rollicking atmosphere designed to keep the Disney feeling going. You'll find a broad array of seafood choices on the menu so you might begin with oysters or steamed clams. Entree favorites include Alaskan Crab Claws, and Fresh Salmon. Desserts are straightforward and there's a full bar. You must pay to enter Pleasure Island but this restaurant is just outside the island so you do not have to enter Pleasure Island to dine here.
As somewhat of a chef myself, I would relate this to be a first night service similar to "HELL'S KITCHEN". The worst crab bisque I have EVER tasted (and retured). Salad was acceptable but dressings were limited. Entre' was six (6) shrimp (24-26 count at a resturant cost of about $5.p/lb) and cost $22.95. The seafood combo platter was fast food quality. We did not DARE order desert. Fooled once, shame on you-fooled twice, shame on me.
This was a noisy, crowded, and dark restaurant. Everything was very expensive but the quality of the food ranged from OK to terrible. Our waiter was overly-familiar and constantly touched female members of the party on the shoulder most inappropriately. He was completely unprofessional. I heard (from another member of our party) that the bathrooms were disgusting.
What a waste of time and money. I will NEVER go back.
This was not the first time that my wife and I have dined at Fulton's. It will, however, be our last. After making our reservation a full month in advance the hostess attempted to seat us in the bar and on bar stools! Both my wife and I were dressed up for the evening...a detail somewhat overlooked. The meal was like any other we've had at any other seafood house. What was distasteful was the fact that after giving the waiter a 30% gratuity he didn't have the common courtest or manners to return to the table and say a simple thank you. My advice to readers: go somewhere cheaper for crab legs and if you do tip, stick with the standard 15%.
We tried to eat there one Wednesday afternoon when they weren't very busy. It took 15 to 20 minutes to be seated - there was no one else waiting - when they did finally seat us we were there another 20 minutes and no had even come by to get a drink order. Then when we did flag down a waitress she was all upset that she thought she would have to wait on us and told us that the other waitress was our waitress. She went to get her and promptly got in a fight with her. Then the first waitress went over to the manager and started to get upset. The place was not very busy and to make it worse we had 2 hungry kids and one was a baby. Finally, we just got up and left. No one asked us how things were they all ignored us including the manager on the floor. When we go to Disneyworld again we will totally avoid that place and also tell everyone else about their lousy service!!!!
This place is awesome. If I could eat there every weekend...I would.
Great service and fantastic food.
Plus you can't beat that it's at Downtown Disney, Florida. Just be sure and bring plenty of money. But the money spent is well worth it.
The only thing I can say bad about this place is the long wait you have to get in. It is that good. The food was amazing. The best was our waiter. He was so friendly even though you know he hasn't sat down in at least 8 hours. Just a really nice guy. Get reservations because you will wait a very long time to get in. We waited over 2 hours, longggg wait, but it was well worth it. This place is wonderful!!
Be Advised....You have to get past the Man at the front desk to get a table....after making reservations two weeks in advance my wife and I were ignored like we had leprosy....after moving out of the way the Man Behind The Desk helped the person behind me....I guess he was having a bad day.....last year we ate at fultons crab house everything was great.....I'm sure the food would have been wonderful this time also....but we did not make it that far.....fultons crab house was going to be the highlight of our 25 wedding anniversary.....but it turned out to be a big disappointment.
Although expensive, the taste was worth every penny. We went on our honeymoon in 2003, and had the magic wish features on our disney vacation package. This feature entitled us each to an appetizer, entree, desert, and non alchoholic beverage. Our server was awesome. She let us add on the Alaskan King Crab Claws to our Filet Mignon, making this a $53.00 dish. Not to mention the sparkling water, appetizer's and desert, our bill was an easy $180.00 before tip. All of this was covered by our wishes. This year we are going back, and intend to try and visit there again. Although we don't have the wish features this time, we will see how we do on a budget!
This place is worth saving up for!
Came with a group and had a great evening. The food is terrific and the waitstaff wonderful. True it is an expensive meal but we came in knowing and couldn't have been more pleased. My wife and I have enjoyed it for over 7 years and came back for lunch during this visit also. Knowing it used to be the Empress Lily, named after Mrs.Lillian Disney, I think she would be very pleased at how it has turned out. Just great!!
