Memories of India
With low lighting and an efficient staff, this restaurant offers a classy dining experience centered on authentic Indian fare. Diners feast on favorites such as Saffron Shrimp and Garlic Lamb. For starters, try the appetizer combo, which offers samples of delicacies such as Chicken Tikka and Vegetable Fritters. A good selection of beer and wine is also available.
I am so thoroughly dissapointed because i was a huge fan of this place. Read on and i think you will se why i was compelled to write this review (first time ever writing a negative review)
I stopped in to eat last night around 9:15pm. When we were pointed to a table rather than shown. Our server ( a very slender male) was visibly upset that we showed up at 9pm when they closed at 10pm. He came back literraly 4minutes after we sat down and asked if we were ready to order. I said we were not to give us a couple of minutes. He then said that the kitchen was closing soon. I was a bit insulted that he would try to rush us when we obviously had enough time. I went to the restroom and when i came back my Fiance said that our server jsut took the Chutney from a table he just cleaned off and brought it to our table. When our server came back i asked him about it and he admitted it. There was barely any Chutney left and it was crusted around the rim and picked through. He said that after 6pm all tables share chutney. I replied, so if another table asked for my chutney you would just take it to them? He replied yes. I told him that has to be against some sort of health code. He said its how they do it as he stuttered his way through words. I asked for the manager of the restaurant he brought him over and said something in Hindi to him i asked the manager the same question and he said no that's not true. He started trying to explaen (again stuttering his way through it) i called the server over and asked him to please explain to his manager what he explained to us. He looked at me like he all of the sudden didn't understand me. His manager jumped in and basically waved us out of the Restaurant. I have never been treated so rudely or embarassed/insulted as i was last night. The lack of apology and sincerity i recieved from both the manager and server screamed out that this is not the first time this restaurant and staff has done that. I called to ask for the owners name and email and someone picked up the phone and pretended to be the owner and then said he doesnt have an email. When i asked for his first and last name he hung up on me. I was hung up on a total of 3 times util i finally decided i would give up going about that route. I caution all who choose to eat at Memories of India. You may be eating other patrons left overs.
I am addicted to the place. The staff quickly remembers you, your preferences and how you like your food prepared and the food itself is amazing. I work in Lake Mary and we have many visitors from our Indian office - they claim the food is as good (if not better) than top establishments back home. That is the highest recommendation possible. Service is as excellent as the food.
I just wanted to express how much my wife and I enjoyed this year's Mother Day's Brunch.
Food, service and atmosphere was just over the TOP.
I always try to eat there when I fly back to see my wife.
Truely one of my favorite resturants in all of Houston or Orlando.
Memories of India was just that, a memory...and a very BAD one at that. After standing at the doorway for 20 minutes for a table (there is no waiting area), we were finally seated. However, no one came to take our order. People who were seated after us had already received their drinks and appetizers. The co-owner noticed me staring at him and he came over, apologized and took our order. Our regular server then came by and asked if we wanted to order and we told him we already had. Clueless. After 30 minutes, the food still hadn't come. I noticed another couple in there that were having the same experience as we were and then a rather large party that arrived long after we did that were already enjoying their meal. I can't help but feel there was a bit of discrimination displayed by the staff. It was strange. The co-owner kept telling us it would be just a minute. How long can it take to bring us some Naan? Well, after another 20 - 30 minutes of him saying it would be just a minute and two hungry children, we left. I can't say anything about the food because we never got any but the service was enough to rate this place a big fat ZERO. AWFUL! I don't care how good the food is, if the service is bad it's not worth trying.

After reading the good reports on here we decided to give 'Memories of india' a try. Well all I can say is the owner must have a really bad memory if this is how he remembers Indian food.
I ordered the lamb kebob (kebab) as a starter which was undercooked and as far as I could tell had no lamb in it (just a mushy mess). We then waited over 30 minutes for our main dishes , me and my wife decided to visit the restroom before the main course was served and on our return found that our table had been cleared and new customers were sitting in our seats, the waiter appologised and found us a new table immediately. I then had to point out that we had not yet received our main dishes , once again the waiter appologised and our food appeared within a couple of minutes. Both dishes were cold when they arrived and I had to ask for them to be heated up, once again appologies were made.
When we finaly got round to eating our main course I found it bland and of poor quality, the only spice I could taste was corriander which they seemed to use in great abundance.
I ordered a medium lamb madras which the waiter had classed as 'very spicy' , I dont like my currys too hot but this hardly left a tingle in my mouth, I've had better microwave Indians than this. I was also astonished that they did not have chapati's on the menu.
If you are from the UK and are used to the kind of Indian restaurants/take aways we have then you will be very disappointed with the food , the service was almost like an episode from fawlty towers and whilst amusing to start with soon became annoying .
To sum it up this was one of the worst Indians I've ever had and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good curry.
Our experience at Memories of India was great. We had very prompt, courteous and helpful staff, and the food was incredible. We tried the chicken tikka masala and a similar lamb dish (can't recall the name) and both were really delicious! If you like Indian food, definitely try out this restaurant. Don't let the strip mall location scare you away!
They have an amazing way to tie in Indian delicacies with a western twist. Their catering is toop knotch and are very dependable. My favorite item would have to be their many varieties of chicken. Their salads are outsanding with aperfect dressing. Dinig at Memories is a very fine and needed experience. If you go once you are sure to return!
