Deep Sea Fishing-Reward Fleet
Set out to sea! Leave for a whole day or head back for a late lunch. Journey alone or bring the entire family. It is entirely up to you but make sure you are able to concentrate on the sport. Beginners and pros are welcome aboard these 70-foot 'party-fishing boats'. Go ahead and have a good day on board.
Tried these non- professionals twice in order to give them the benefit of the doubt, the first time all the activities that they say on the site were non existent ,Thought it might be due to the windy weather,so I made a reservation after a couple of day when it had great weather for fishing .I called them 2 hours in advance to make sure that everything was o.k ,they assured me that all was o.k and would be going on time as booked , went down to the marina and there was no one in site just 2 other guys that had gotten screwed over by these liars like I did.... I decided to check out the fishing fleets at haulover marina , better prices and no lies.
For example, when you call Reward on Sunday and ask about fishing Monday morning you are told, "It's first come first served". No an outsider thinks, Wow they sound busy and I better get there early. Arrive at 8:30 to find one guy standing on the dock.
Ask about fishing and you are told, "We can't go out because we have to fix some things on the boat". Press a little harder and you hear, " If you want to wait around a while maybe some more people will come and then we can go." I consider myself pretty reasonable and it would seem only fair to have been told from the phone call on Sunday that they may not go out. I would have chosen to go to Haulover where the fleet is in better condition and far more professional.
Based on my brief encounter with Reward I am more inclined to believe the 1 star reviews here.
i live here in the beach and been fishing with these guys over a 5 years .long story short you can't beat the price and the fun on board!.i courage all tourists to welcome on and have fun with us.specially mates are polite and more attentive to the tourists to give them info and help them catch anything bites .only one thing , fishing is luck and if they don't bite what do you expect fishing boat do for you .even they clean your fish after a trip and they are rhe best i tell you that much.let'sgo and catch'em up !
went on 01/23/2011 sunday with my wife and kids and had a blast. the mate is a great guy,was super helpful I have been on the reward when it was across from the cruise line and it still gives you great service.thanks reward for a great time again.
First off, I know you don't always catch fish on head boats, but very seldom does the whole boat 30+ get skunked. When the boat was loaded a party of 6, obviously regulars because they talked about how they fished on the previous monday and the week before that and they only paid $20 instead of $40, was placed on the bow, joe blow off the street lined the middle of the boat, and then regulars again at the back of the boat. Our party got their extra early because we wanted to fish off the back and we were told where to sit and fish. There was no live bait on the boat as advertised on their website or did we see any kite flying or fished any wrecks. Everything advertised on their website as well as in their flyer was lies. Now maybe when they take out a special charter they have all of this but on Saturday June 27 we saw none of this. The fishing was horrible, one fish was caught off the very front and one off the back. A small undersized cobia was horribly gaffed through the mid section and brought on board. The captain then threw the fish back only to die in the water. Noone else managed to get a bite. We moved every ten minutes to fish grounds that we had just drifted over. When asked if we could move to the back of the boat or the other side, only one side of the boat was allowed for us to fish off of the other side was completely empty, we were told no that we had to stay where they put us. A complete waste of money and time. spend the extra bit of money and hire a real fishing service that will put you on the fish. The boat moves 10knots maxed out, took 50 minutes to get out and 50 to get back in, spent 2 hours dropping lines and realing back in bait.. I would never recommend the reward fleet and would stay away. Save your money and drive down to key largo if you want to catch fish.
They are very polite, very caring and they care very much with children. Most of the times they will give you a free fishing trip. They even give you free fish if you dont catch any. I wish i could work there!!!
They are the best!!!!!
I have fished open party boats on both the west and east coasts, and probably every boat from Stewart to Key West, and the Reward Sportfishing Fleet has the cleanest and most helpful crew that I have seen. The catching is not always great because the entire Miami Bight has been overfished but I do consistently catch kingfish, snapper, cero and spanish mackeral, and bonito, with an occasional blackfin tuna, sailfish or grouper for variety. Triggerfish, sand tilefish, an assortment of jacks also add variety to the trip. As for marine life, one often sees bottlenose dolphin, several species of turtles, flying fish, and a variety of gull, terns and the ever present fish-finding, frigate birds. As for the scenery, you get a great view of the beachfront from Key Biscayne to Sunny Isles, which can be spectacular at night. As for the cost, you cannot beat it. It costs me more to drive to the boat than to go out fishing. Again the catching is up to you but with a little help from Wayne, Gus or Chris and you have a good chance to be successful.
If your looking for a charter that makes you feel right at home. Then this is the boat for you. I am a local and I always go out fishing with the Reward Crew. Keep up the great work guy's! Thanks Emily
