The worst experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/08/07
I'm really not the type of person that writes reviews to complain about anything...in fact I dont even read them, but I wish I had read a review that was posted about someones' bad experience with the park. I started looking for a park to do my babyshower, I started looking months before because i wanted a really nice park. I loved A.D. Barnes, I thought it was very nice with a lot of green areas around it. When i called for information I inquired about a closed facility because I did not want to have my party outside. They told me that they had one available that could hold up to 100 people but that it was under construction to call them in mid Aug. I did exactly what they asked, in mid August I went to the park to ask if it was done, when i get there and speak to Ruth and Donna (the manager) they tell me that they had never had a facility that could hold 100 people that they only had one for 50. (this was thieir first lie). After all that time i had to settle for a shelter, I did my reservation and paid. A month later after i had invitation done, catering....etc...etc they call me to tell me that they have to cancel my reservation due to the park having to go through rennovation. To top it all off, I was told that my refund was going to take up to 3 weeks...they did not even have the courtesy of giving us back our money so that we can rent somewhere else. It's been already a month and we still dont have our money. They had told us that as a courtesy they would give us our money back and we can rent a shelter from Tropical Park and they would pay for it. When we went to speak to them again to let them know we had found a shelter at Tropical they told us that "that's not what they had told us". These people have made us waste so much time, on top of all the stress that they have created which defenitely I didn't need. I am very dissapointed. It is a shame that such a nice park has such disorganized, and unhelpful, staff. I do not recommemd this Park to anyone...unless you want to go through all this stress.

Amazing park for all ages!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/06
This is an amazing park that I would recommend to all people! First of all, this park has a very nice pool with a diving board, and swimming lessons are offered almost every day of the week. It is very organized, and has classes for all ages. The pool is very cheap to get into, and is HEATED! I personally work at the Nature Center, which is located all the way at the end of the park. The Nature Center has all types of animals, including snakes, lizards, and our new addition, BATS!!! Snake shows are held there all the time, you jsut have to call! The summer camp at the Nature Center is for ages 6-14(6-8 is one group, and 9 and up is another) and is GREAT!! I work there over the summer, and it is loads of fun. There are feildtrips usually 4 times a week, and we go to the pool once a week. And it is CHEAP!!!! Then there is a very nice playground that is only about 2 or 3 years old which is a lot of fun. It is intended for all ages!! There is also a basketball court and a huge field. A baseball feild is also there. There is a place called Leisure Access which is amazing! It is intended for the mentally and physically handicapped, and from what I have heard, it is great. this is an amazing park, especially the summer camp!!! I would tell anyone to spend the day there with the kids, go in the pool, go to the playground, have a picnic under the many shelters, or see all the animals in the Nature Center, which is always open!!!!

WISH I HADNT BOOKED HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/05/05
I booked my firstborn's firts birthday here and invited over 50 guests including small children. The party was the first week of August and I booked the recreation room in early May 0f 2004.Ruth, the lady who happily took my money, gave me my time allowance.Imagine my shock when I showed up at the indicated time only to await another group to clear out.My guests stood outside in the rain for a half hour with food, gifts and games for the little ones while we waited.Because of the delay, I was forced to push the party back an additional hour- an additional hour that Ruth made me pay on the spot.No apology was ever offered for her erroneous information. What a fiasco and definitely not the memory I wanted of my son's party. To make matters worse, it is now May of 05 and I have yet to receive the refund.I have been in communications with their "office" staff since September of 04.I have spoken with Maria the secretary, Ruth and Donna, who is supposed to be the park manager. They each have a different story as to why my refund is delayed. As stated above, I still haven't received my refund. If you want a spwcial day marred by headaches and problems- use Ad BArnes- I recommend you ask for Ruth.Had I known of the level of incompetence, I definitely would not have given them my hard earned money.Parents beware- THIS PLACE WILL RUIN YOUR CHILD'S SPECIAL DAY!
