Diving Locker almost killed me!
DO NOT EVER HAVE YOUR EQUIPMENT SERVICED AT THE DIVING LOCKER IN N. MIAMI BEACH...YOU MIGHT DIE!!!!
When I was 60 feet down the nut holding the entire regulator to the tank came off. This was after having it serviced at the Diving Locker. That's just the beginning. I dove 4 more times on the equipment and then stored it in a cool, dry place. Here is what the DIVING LOCKER had done to my gear and what was discovered when I took it for service at an authorized ScubaPro dealer:
"Our Repair Technician has encountered massive problems with your Regulator.
It's a very good Scubapro Regulator, which is one of our two major lines.
It appears whomever worked on it last really damaged it and wasn't repaired by an authorized Scubapro Repair Technician or Scubapro Dealer.
None of the original O rings and seats were ever pulled out!
Basically, the system was trashed when I got it...everything leaking with the High Pressure Hose popping and bubbling.
After THREE HOURS of work I was able to bring the First Stage back to life along with his Primary G200 2nd Stage.
That, my friend, was no easy task.
And, when I went to replace the High Pressure Hose, his Combo Gauge Boot broke in half (even with a lot of hot water...it just crumbled).
Although he didn't ask for it, from nothing more than just a pure safety standpoint, I had to do an AIR. {Air Management + Information Accuracy Test}
I was surprised that the Depth Gauge passed because it is the one with the soft rubber back (filled with oil), but it held up.
So here is what he has so far into the 1st round of Repairs:
one 1st Stage
one 2nd Stage
2 CIP {Certified Inhalation Protection, labor for the above Regulator's Stages}: $50
AIR {labor for cleaning High Pressure Reducer on Air Monitor, lubrication and Accuracy test for the Air + Depth Monitor} $30
MK 200 1st Stage Kit: $21
G 200 2nd Stage Kit: $27
High Pressure Hose: $50
Used Console, $20
Additional Parts for the 2nd Stage:
2nd Stage Crown Orifice: $7
(the metal one had several pieces of the sealing edge actually missing from it)
2nd Stage Diaphragm Ring: $6
(Was disintegrated/split)
Flow Vane O'Ring and C Clip $4 (the Flow Vane actually pulled out when I tugged on it...with the red O'ring in crumbles)
Total so far: $215
Now, you won't believe this. When I went to pull the hose out of his second G-200 that was being used as an Octo, half of the inlet side outer casing crumbled off!
Why?
Because it had been glued some time in the past.
Most of the inlet tube and other components are forever bound up due to glue, so the whole G200 2nd stage is trash.
If we can sell him a used safe 2nd Stage/Octopus, it would save his system and help him since he had no way of knowing whomever worked in his Regulator last caused all of these issues."
End of quote.
