Each of China's major regions is represented on the menu of this popular south Miami institution. The selection of chicken, beef, and pork dishes is numerous and varied, and unusual seafood choices are usually featured. Prices average at USD12 per dish. This is a no-frills restaurant so there is no need to dress up or make reservations. Just enjoy your meal served family style. You'll probably have enough to take home for a snack.
My husband and I went to dinner on Nov. 15, 2007. We had been here before and liked it but it is pricey. I ordered a veggie dish and he ordered a shredded pork dish. After two bites of my dish, I bit into two large pieces of porous material and nearly broke my teeth! I called the waiter and sent the dish back requesting no replacement. I decided to share my husband's dish and within two bites of his, he found the same dangerous porous material within the pork. We called the manager who only apologized which to us is not enough and we will never go there again. I am also telling all our friends and relatives not to go there. To me, this is a sign of an unclean kitchen and management doesn't seem to be that concerned over it.
The title of this review tells it all. The New Chinatown is likely one of the best Chinese eateries in Miami. Your host "Wah" will prepare dishes to your liking. Once he knows your likes and dislikes he will preapre it the "Way You Like It".
Start out with the Peking Duck Spring Rolls wrapped in Lettuce for a novel and succulent appetizer followed by the seared Scallop and Shrimp. If its authentic Chinese you want then call ahead for the Abalone, or a tradtional "Hot Pot".
Wheteher it is tradional dishes or American style Chinese goodies you want it is all there for the asking at the "New Chinatown"
I have eaten at this local Chinese restaurant for many years. Recently, the manager re-decorated and gave the interior an elegant look. The food is still excellent, but now it competes with 4 TV screens which is quite annoying and also increased prices including charging $5. for a pot of tea!
I still go there, but less often since the price increase. It is hard to find better Chinese food in this area so give it a try. I'm sure you'll like it too.
New China Town is a excelent restaurant. The service is great, you'll never have an empty water glass! The food is great, and its a perfect restaurant to go to when you want great food but you don't want to get that dressed up.
I personally recomend the Won Ton Soup, Cashew Chicken, Honey Garlic Chicken or the Mongolian Beef. (I don't eat fish, but everyone that has has fish from there liked it alot.) I have been a loyal customer there for a little over 13 years, and I even order from them when im sick. Over all, they have a casual atmosphere and great food and service.
Nice looking place and friendly people. The food and portions are not near the value. For a 14 dollar entree you barely get any food. The takeout is horrific and they definetly give even less. Avoid take out at all costs!!
This restaurant was very expensive that it cost about $50 dollars per person. i have to admit that this is the best chinease food there is however i have to agree with the other two people that the service is horrible.i have'nt even sat down and the waiter was bringing noodles in my back and he push me to order more food that i could'nt even finish. Also, every
single time i was looking around he would be right next to me. when the bill came i thought that the service was terrible so i gave him atleast 15% tip, however he ask me loudly in my face to give him more tip.the guy was rude and him mouth is stinks, and he don't even speak english.
the food is very delicious but the service was the worst i ever experienced. the waiter did not bring me any water when i asked for it and i ordered a steamed fish but i guest the waiter forgot about my fish and it was cold. i will never sit with that waiter again. he was bald and had a little bit of ance. also he had a mustache
i hated the service. good food but the worst service ever. i had this waiter that had a mustache and he kind of old and he needed some gum . when he brought out my food it was cold. the food tastes great. the lobster was great but the service was horrible
