Schooner Western Union
There are few experiences more impressive and memorable than watching a tall-masted ship as its white sails unfurl, heading toward the horizon. You can be part of that experience on a romantic day or night expedition aboard the Western Union, a 130-foot schooner. Adventures are daily and custom charters are available. This impressive craft is moored at the Schooner Wharf in the historic district. This ship is the official tall ship of Key West and features a variety of daily cruises. Reservations required
We can't say enough good things about the sailing experience on the Western Union. The crew was Very friendly and worked hard to make sure everyone was having a good time....which we all were! The entertainer onboard was also fantastic. I believe his name was Alec Smith. His choice of music for this voyage was awesome, and we certainly hope to see him again during our trip to Key West next year. He played some cover tunes - and some of his own songs. Very talented, played to the group of all ages - and made the trip even more fun! This is a Must Do for anyone visiting Key West.
This boat was great. Crew was friendly. They had just started sailing again (July, 2008) so it was BYOB, but we actually enjoyed being able to bring what we liked. Plus we got engaged on this boat so we will always have great memories
My son and I booked a shore excursion aboard the Western Schooner through Disney Cruise Line in January 2004.
The ship is absolutely gorgeous and the crew was wonderful and exceptionally friendly. I'll never forget sailing onboard with a "chocolate covered key-lime pie on a stick" in one hand and a cold beer in the other with the wind blowing through my hair as we sailed on crystal clear water. I have been dying to go back to Key West simply to sail aboard her again!
