Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden
Located right in the middle of crowded Old Town Key West, this place is an "island in the stream." Owner Nancy Forrester has somehow managed to face down the pressure of development and the tree-tearing fury of hurricanes in order to keep this 30-year-old garden pristine and magnificent. Here you will see the tropics in all its foliage glory with exotics such as orchids nestling in branches, huge ferns, bromeliads, red ginger, pink heliconias and a "sunburn" gumbo-limbo tree. Bring a picnic lunch and tour the onsite art gallery, as well. Admission is USD6.
My husband and I were married in Nancy's Secret Garden almost 10 years ago (on Nov. 26). We are planning on celebrating our anniversary this year in Key West. A trip back to Nancy's Secret Garden will complete the trip.
We have very fond memories of the Garden and our beautiful wedding day and are really looking forward to seeing our special place.
I highly recommend it for special occasions or just a beautiful walk in the garden.

The eclectic garden had orchids hanging from the trees...a serene and beautiful shady spot to escape traffic and t-shirt shops. A place to enjoy the splendor of the natural beauty of key West (even though at Nancy's garden it's been somewhat tamed). A lovely, lovely place that I try to visit every time I'm in town.
Nancy has had her share of problems trying to save this little piece of paradaise from the developers. She has put alot of blood swet and tears into transforming a former dump into an incredible garden retreat, and as a Floridian, I can tell you this is no small feat. This should be a part of the Garden Conservancy so that it can be protected into the future!
Nancy and the garden are unparalled. Nancy is a rare and wonderful soul and welcomed us like family into the most SECRET and lucious place on earth... as close as we can get to heaven. This is not just simply a place to see or go ...it is a lifetime experience you will relish. Orchids and colorful birds abound. Nancy has the last piece of undeloped paradise of Key West. She needs help against excessive taxation and developers to protect Key West's only haven. Please visit and support her. Say Terri & Tina sent you.
I loved everything about The Secret Garden, Nancy Forrester is a beautiful person doing great things in this community. She works very hard for this place she loves. Please, step off Duval and find this amazing place it is well worth the time and money, there are many different tropical birds that are very beautiful. It is a absolute must see, I will go back anytime I am in Key West.
