Seven Mile Bridge Run
The Seven-Mile Bridge race began in 1982 with the dedication of the opening of the new bridge that was part of a program to rebuild 37 of the 43 bridges of the Overseas Highway. The annual event benefits local school and youth programs and is limited to the first 1,500 applicants. Competition categories include men, women, children, seniors (age 75 and older) and wheelchair. Medallions, trophies, black coral '7s' for completing the run and local hotel stays are some of the prizes presented at the award event.
