White Tarpon Wine and Liquor Store
This harbor-side package store, the only one in that part of town, specializes in fine wine, spirits and beer. It also carries some basic groceries and vacation needs. You'll find what you need in the Old Town, a district that likes to call itself the Historic Seaport area. There's also a cozy wine bar and a courtyard overlooking the marina where you can relax a spell and sip an afternoon drink.
We immediatley liked the White Tarpon because the prices were the best of any bar in K.W. You have the marina atmosphere and everyone knows everyone. If you don't you will by the time you leave. Very small, seats 15to 20 patrons and has a good gig going..Bartender remembered what we drank from the night prior and made good conversation....
My family and I have been going to Key West for a few years now and always spend time in the White Tarpon. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is good. It's a shame they stopped serving lunch though as it was great to have a sandwich instead of something with fries. The chalk board in the toilets was especially fun!
I highly recommend it!
We love it here. Every time we come to key west we spend most of our time in this wonderful little bar. The people are the best as it is a local place. The wine list comprises the best. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We've spent many hours at this place and recommend it highly.
Best drinks we have ever had. A local pointed it out to us as the best Key Lime martinis on the island, and after we tried them we ended up going back for a nightcap there almost every night. A lot of locals go there, and while not the warmest at first, ended up becoming our friends and telling the greatest stories.
I'm not that big into cocktails but these were EXCELLENT. The Key Lime and Espresso martinis were more like dessert than drinks. They changed my life. My favorite bar tenders were Mark and Celia. Their drinks were great. Mark is a chef, an Italian American, speaks Italian and goes to Italy every year which makes him great to talk to. I didn't get to know Celia as well but she was plain sweet. Nicole's drinks were lackluster as was her interest in relating to customers.
We also stayed at the Galleon this October and discovered the White Tarpon!!! Thanks Tess & Marco for bringing us there. The past person wanted to know the name of the Blonde bartender... it is Nicole!!
I had many Key Lime Martinis around the island, but those were the bomb!!! mmm mmm good
This is an awesome little stop on the wharf..cold,cold a/c and a small, sophisticated bar. Not loud, just low key background music and friendly bartenders. If you are looking for a drink after checking out the boats or just want a nightcap after dinner, this is a great stop. From Duval, just head down Greene and follow the docks. It is tucked back in, near A&B Lobster. We'll be back!
