Anne Kolb Nature Center was named after a dedicated environmentalist and County Commissioner from the region. Part of the 1,400-acre West Lake Park, one of the largest parks in Florida, you can find a variety of wildlife here, including white ibis, osprey and peregrine falcon. Tour the mangrove wetlands by foot on boardwalks, by bicycle on trails or by canoe. A nature center rents bicycles; the park's marina rents canoes and runs guided canoe trips on Saturdays, January-March. Experience an environmental boat tour; 40-minute guided tours are available; ask at the desk in the center.

Mangrove Tree Crabs
By Hands-On Learning, 11/30/08
At first it seems that there is no animal life to be seen as you start along the boardwalk but ask someone coming back to point out something they have seen. Someone pointed out the little black crabs crawling up and down the mangroves and soon we were seeing them everywhere. This is a wonderful park to spend an hour or so with a camera searching out creatures of the Mangroves that you may never have seen before.. We can't wait to go back!

Will go back
By Nick, 03/08/08
The trail is best with a knowledgeable guide. The kayak and canoe rentals are very affordable and the best part of the park allowing for intimate interaction with the wildlife as fish fly out of the water and birds soar overhead. Recommended for any nature lover or any one just trying to get away from the chaotic urban world.

Great Nature Trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/07
I lived near Ann Kolb for 12 years and it's a great place to visit and see wild life. You should bring bug repellent as at certain times of the year you really will need it. Also you should first, as with all parks stop in the visitor ctr. and ask what birds, etc. are being seen. There are several trails, an observation tower (complete with elevator), an education ctr. and even banquet facilities. There are native plants, art work and an interpretive ctr.. Free Admission to the park. Well worth a trip and great for families. In the Spring call about their nesting turtle program.

Will be back very soon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/06
The park is very relaxing and a place to get away for a little while. The little crabs were running around from hole to hole and at one time, they were sunning on the side of the water. Very nice to look at, maybe we will see some larger ones on our return.

Parts of the center we're nice but overall the mud everywhere was unbearable it smelled like sewage and I didn't see so much as a small crab no wildlife at all.

A Walk in Paradise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/05
Amid the hustle and bustle of Fort Lauderdale is the Anne Kolb Nature Center. A serene place to spend an hour or two. The boardwalk over the mangrove swamp is very interesting as well as the nature museum. You feel that you are far away from civilisation.
