Seldom Seen Gallery, Fort Lauderdale

Had a worse experience than Tto. The male employee (older gentleman appearing to be manager/owner) was rude, unprofessional and offensive. My daughters were looking at the finger puppets in the back. At first he insisted that my youngest (almost 5) hold my hand - and then almost immediately he said, "on second thought I prefer you leave the store"!! Can you imagine?!! I could understand if she was touching a fragile item but these were $7 felt finger puppets. I dont know if he is miserable by nature but I will never venture into this faux gallery again. Aside from the items being over-priced and tacky I dont need to be harassed during a nice afternoon with my children. If you have had a bad experience with this man, I encourage you to post a comment. This place has certainly changed and it's no wonder it had to leave the prestigious Las Olas Boulevard. With a disposition like that - I hope that he and his gallery are soon Seldom Seen.

Avoid this place...it is not respectful of the customer/client. The employees and management are rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. My 3 year old daughter saw a little stuffed animal that sings a song when you press its paw...she liked it so much and was so excited that she pressed it a second time to hear the song again. While she was standing there in awe of the stuffed animal performing its song a male employee (he appeared to be the manager/owner) walked up, stepped in between my daughter and the animal, and then pressed the animal's power button to turn it off. He then said, "I don't want the batteries to completely wear out." When I questioned the wisdom of the action, the employee was spiteful and unrepentant. You have to be kidding me...the cost of the 2 AA batteries it takes to power that thing is nothing in comparison to what we might have spent. Aside from that, and from a more objective standpoint, the items were extremely overpriced to begin with (for example, those sort of singing/dancing stuffed animals sell for less than $10.00 elsewhere) but I was planning to shell out the ridiculous $30.00 they wanted for the stuffed animal for my daughter anyway because she was so in love with it. However, after that treatment, I'll never spend a dime in this place. I am guessing business must be pretty bad already for the shop manager to risk losing potential sales over a set of AA batteries dying (hint: if you have to replace them its a business expense and can be deducted from your taxable business income--if there is any). I shop where my money and my family are shown respect.

This has got to be the best shop on Las Olas BLvd. The store was closed down while they were doing some renovaton and now has a new owner. As a long term customer, I found the change a vast improvement over the previous store's owner. There is always someone around to help you, which is a huge plus, and they are very knowledgeable. There is never a day you dont see new things displayed. You can walk through this store for hours and still not be able to take it all in. The prices are more affordable and the selection is incredible. If your visiting Las Olas Blvd add this store to you list of things to do and see.

They have a very interesting selection of jewelry and watches. The service is very poor and the prices are very high. When I bought a watch for a friend they assured me it could be returned for a store credit. A few days later when my friend tried to exchange it they gave her a hard time. They finally agreed to exchange it for a bracelet with the agreement that she could not exchange the bracelet. The bracelet cost more than the watch. They lost no money yet gave her a hard time.

My brother and sister-in-law live in LHP, and have sent me gifts from the store from time to time(usually they send a check!!), so when I am in South Florida for ANY reason I make at least one shopping trip to your store. I have introduced more than a couple of my Jacksonville friends to your store and they love it as much as I do. It's definitely worth the money, time, and the search for a parking space and I can't wait to get back there again. Aside from all of the really neat things you can find there, it's aesthetically pleasing. Like a trip to toyland!!!

The hand-made blue and purple stoneware fish platters are awesome. They make great gifts, but we had to have one for ourselves. They also have matching pieces. All of our friends that see it want to know where it came from. As a potter, I appreciate quality pottery. They also have a great selection of other eclectic art. We stop in every time we are visiting Ft. Lauderdale... it is the highlight of our trip to Las Olas.

The store was cute but the service was poor and workers were not helpful. I had to look for someone to show me an item in a case, and then she stood there talking to another worker instead of giving me her attention. I then called the store the next day and the woman I spoke to seemed "put out" when I asked her to check something for me. I also e-mailed twice and never received a response. I would have purchased a silver bracelet I was interested in, even though it was terribly overpriced, but after dealing with the staff, I decided not to give them my business.

This is a great store. A little bit of everything. We were in Ft. Lauderdale June 2005 and had a bit of rain. We shopped more than usual. We love the great table made of different colors of wood, and everything else in the store. The staff were very helpful in answering questions about shipping items home. Great Store.
