Jungle Queen Riverboat

Description

For more than 50 years, visitors have traveled on this stately riverboat. Tours sail past estates while an entertaining monologue by the captain points out the homes of the famous and the infamous. On three-hour day tours or four-hour dinner voyages you can sail to an island where you will dine amid tropical foliage. Evening cruises feature a dinner of barbecued ribs and shrimp, with a variety revue and sing-a-long cruising back.

2ND TIME GOING AND LOVED IT
By MRS. BUCCI, 7/18/11
My husband surprised me again and took me to the dinner cruise this time. Was nice as usual. We got to see the Movie Actors houses and hear about new ones that are building since we were there last. Got to the island and went directly to eat. They had Ribs, BBQ Chicken, Beans, Slaw, Potato Fries and Chocolate Cake. We only drink water but they also had soda and beers. Staff was friendly as normal. Went to the show it was funny and corny, lol. It was cute. Definitely good for kids. Then we walked around and saw the animals. Then headed back. Some reviews on here are whiny and complaining of the food and animals and price, and blah blah blah.. It's 40.00 for a cruise. What do you expect a cruise like the PRINCESS? I've been on it before and we plan on going again. Staff is always courteous and the captain is funny. Yes they show off these expensive houses. Enjoy the beautiful scenes, designs just enjoy it! They don't shine lights into peoples houses. People standing out side of the houses are always waving at us when we go by. You want to live like a famous person there comes tourists with the price. I SAY GO FOR THE RIDE AND YOU WILL LIKE IT. :)

Mediocre at best
By amrmaria, 3/14/11
*Liked* The cruise was okay. We got to see a tour of Fort Lauderdale (homes on the channels and downtown). We were on the beach strip without a car and the cruise showed us more of Fort Lauderdale. ******* The location of the "island" was nice. It had some animals on display (Alligators, monkeys, and birds). ******The show was nice. It was probably the best of all but very corny. ******* The food was fine. It consisted of ribs, chicken, and shrimp with beans, cole slaw, potato wedges, and bread. The chicken, beans, cole slaw, and bread were good. *Disliked* The cruise was mostly focused on expensive homes. They shined lights into homes to point out specific things. It was weird and a little like stalking. Also, I don't really care about expensive homes and who lives there. ****** The "island" WAS NOT AN ISLAND. The pamphlet says you are going to an island and you are not in the ocean at all. The cruise actually goes inland through channels and it stops at a peninsula which they are selling as an island. We looked on google maps to find out. This was really disappointing because we thought we were getting off the coast into the ocean. This was very misleading. ********The cost was expensive for the cruise and dinner ($40). Like I said above the food was fine except for the shrimp was not peeled and was cold. Also, there was no free soda just water. ******Lastly, the "island" had no lights to spotlight the animals so we could not even see them. It was lame.

There are better and cheaper options
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/11
The clerk was rude and she lied. We have a 24 month old baby, and the casheir who appeared to be the owner decided that our baby was 2 years or older. She demanded to charge us a kid's ticket stating that the boat will be full and and she can't afford not to charge for the baby. It turned out the boat was about half full... We couldn't hear the tour guide most of the time and he talked about expensive homes and their owners. The chairs were uncomfortable and we were inhaling the boat's smoke, so it gave us a strong headache.

Evening Cruise down the Intercoastal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/10
I have been on the Jungle Queen at least 8 times. Each time there are new houses built along the Intercoastal that are just amazing. There are still some oldies there that are really beautiful. The cruise down the river is a nice way to relax and enjoy the Christmas lights of the really really expensive houses along the way to the island. Not only do I love the view along the way but once you get to the food!! Yum.. yum yum. The ribs just fall off the bone and are awesome. It's all you can eat.. so watch it. Then you get to see a short show with some really corny but funny jokes. The show differs each time I went on the Jungle Queen but is geared towards the older generation. Still funny but corny!! Love it. You must go when in Fort Lauderdale.

Avoid it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/10
This was a waste of time and money. The comments about the seats being cheap lawn chairs is correct. The commentation during the boat ride was not informational but were remarks about the homeowners. The meal was outdoors and we were bitten badly on our legs by something - we had to flee. The food was ok - skip the optional drinks. The show was corny; the sites/shopping were pathetic.

Jungle Queen Dinner Cruise
By FLSun, 9/13/09
The Cruise was ok would had been alot better if the people next to us with their whole family... in laws , cousins, etc etc wasnt there talking loud, laughing loudly, cussing, baby crying, we couldnt get out of our seats until they moved we were on the inside of the row... people are so inconsiderate of others, The dinner was awful food was cold. ribs, chicken, shrimp wasnt devined or cleaned. If you are looking for a good meal this isnt it maybe just do the cruise.
