Applewood Golf Course
This golf nugget is unlike any other course in Colorado. Spanning 6,229 yards, Applewood Golf Course's natural terrain has been retained so that the par 71 course plays through the native vegetation. The signature 16th hole, a 488-yard, par five challenge, culminates with an elevated, rolling green that really tests the putting game. Juniors are not allowed to play until 2pm from Friday to Sunday.
This place is an absolute disaster. Do not play golf here, there are so many better options within 20 minutes. This course has hardly any grass in the fairways not to mention the greens are all just about dead. I couldn't believe how poorly run this golf course is. On top of the horrible conditions it took almost 5 hours to play. The one staff member I encountered was named Rob and wow... I was appalled to find out he was the one in charge, a conversation with him let me know exactly why this place is as bad as it is.
We arrived 45 minutes ahead of our scheduled tee time on Sat. 6/14, only to find out that tee times were running "a little behind". By the time we got to tee off, we were already running an hour behind due to the Men's Club shotgun start tournament starting an hour behind. After waiting an hour to get started, the course took 5 1/2 hours to play. There were no rangers on the course to move play along, which may have at least helped. I've been playing golf for 40 years and played hundreds of courses. I've never seen a course so poorly managed in all of that time. The most disturbing part of the whole matter is that the guys running the pro shop really didn't seem to care and made no effort to do anything to improve the situation. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone based on the treatment we received.
