Heritage Square Amusement Park

Description

This park is a throwback to the days when theme parks were more than corporate carnivals seeking to build the biggest roller coaster. It is set in the guise of an old Victorian town and provides old-fashioned fun for the whole family. Rides abound, including the merry-go-round and alpine slide. Numerous shops carry everything from candy to souvenirs. The acclaimed Music Hall offers a variety of entertainment ranging from vaudeville to mystery plays. There is even a wedding chapel. General admission is free, but the rides and the Music Hall have separate fees. Outdoor rides are only open during the summer.

Heritage Square: A Great Evening.
By Lawrence K, 7/29/06
If you're just looking for a place to take the wife out and want to do something different than a movie, look no further. You really have to give The Heritage Square Music Hall a try. Warning: This is an all-evening affair. This is not something you "run out and do" along with a few other plans you have for the evening. Set the entire evening aside for them. You can optionally start your evening here with their buffet dinner served upstairs before the show. Their buffet is always decent, comparable to what you would find at a typical buffet restaurant such as Country Buffet in quality, without quite the latter's broad selection. But the selection is typically decent enough for most people. After dinner, everyone is mustered downstairs into the theatre for the real treat: Their live play performance. The Heritage Square staff writes their own comedy-oriented original material, typically spoofs written off more 'serious' stage shows, and the result is hilarious. I have found that it simply doesn't matter what show they happen to be running at the time. I've been attending the Heritage Square shows since 1993, I haven't seen a show of theirs I didn't fully enjoy yet. Typically, a full show consists of a play which includes an intermission, with a music review of some type after a second intermission. When I last went in September of 2005, it was still mostly the same cast that I first saw there in 1993. They've been doing this for a long time, and they are GOOD at it. Pleasantly, you will find at the end of the night that the total cost of your evening will be only a little bit more than you would have spent had you gone out to an equivalent restaurant for dinner, and then a movie afterwords. For the extra bit this will cost you, you get a live performance by a professional cast pushing three hours in length altoegether. I've seen a lot of bad movies in my lifetime, but I have NEVER seen a bad show at the Heritage Square Music Hall. They also cator to larger parties for things such as Company outings, larger special family events, and so on. They typically stay booked solid throughout the Christmas season from Companies who have found them to be great value for an employee Christmas Party. Reservations definitely required from Thanksgiving through New Years. They also run kid's shows on weekends, specially priced for the little guys. Although I have never seen one since I don't have kids, I am trusting that the compliments I have heard about their children shows are as completely well deserved as their evening shows I have seen for myself for 13 years.

\"mineral maze\" there full of cheating
By jing, 5/28/12
the mineral maze, is a seperate so-called park there, they charge extra money, very expensive, and also intent to cheat customers. They have no any signs about the tickets, intend to cheat customers to think they are also a part of the amusement park. They even use the same color wrist band to cheat people. But the most ridiculous thing there is, they even dont train their employee well, some also think customers dont need to pay extra. So, little kids wait their turn, some got play with the amusement park tickets, some are forced to go buy their expensive tickets to play, all depend on their employee. Lots of parents with little kids complain about the unfairness and intentional cheat. That mineral maze has nothing special, just one little bump house, one small so-called playground with just two slides, one so-called maze which never saw any kids there. One little pool with 3 water balls which is the only place kids want to play, also caused lots of unfair treatment and intentional cheating. some kids are lucky to go play that water ball by their amusement park tickets, some are not, forced to buy $10 each time, but those kids are in the same line, all depend on who work there. Could any parents imagine they charge $10 each time just for few mins? Lots of place have this water ball, even not some special fun thing. if you want to buy the wrist band to play more than one time, you have to pay $26 for the amusement park, plus $21 or more to pay for that extra mineral maze which is full of cheating. They told me I have to buy the train ticket at that mineral maze ticket place, but obvious that is not right. My kids are 3yrs and 2yrs old, we have to pay for them and ourselves. so expensive there, also got so mad on the mineral maze's cheating things. Lot of fun in denver area in summer time, elitch garder, although they charge the admissioin fee, but then when you get there, you dont need to pay extra. Also free for 3 yrs old and under. Lakeshore amusement park is much cheaper, train ride is much fun. water park is also fun, little kids do not need to pay either. We would never take our kids go there anymore.
