Formerly know as "The Pipefitter," this one-time head shop has leapt headlong into the 21st century. That's right, it's not just hippie outfits and '60s and '70s kitsch anymore. The Fitter now stocks the latest in surf 'n' skate wear and other boutique fashions. It has also made a name for itself as the region's foremost purveyor of flip flops. However, its psychedelic past has yet to completely fade away; it is consistently named "Best Pipe Shop" in Boulder Weekly's annual "Best of Boulder" issue.
The fitter has three very crucial aspects surrounding them that don’t have anything to do with glass. Location, positive inside and outside atmosphere, and finally being in the heart of one of the chillest college towns in America. Now, for the glass, there are many good head shops all over the country, and I have seen glass from Cali, Washington, Montana, Minnesota, Missouri, and my home town OMAHA, ne. Home of Illusions (and now fitters). The thing that set all the good shops apart from the cheap, out of country glass is the fact that they knew or were the blowers of the glass they were selling. Making it very personal and different from every other shop around town. Fitters fits in with this high class glass understanding that headie pipes should be one of a kind, and not a lot of shops has the variety that Fitters has. They have local blowers that do crazy work, and afficince from kind creations out of Denver (from Omaha). Over all the experience was nice, Could of bought a shirt, pipe, case, and shoes.
