Better than you'ld ever guess from the outside
The place has been renewed and has great new chef Jose - who prides himself on making his Tex-Mex fresh each day. The tamales are great, but everything from big fresh salads to burritos, brats and burgers are available. Nothing is over $10.
The giant open space inside used to be an old school giant screen movie theater, and has a live stage at the back, and a good sized room for meetings and private parties. The new marble enclosed bar has a dozen beers on tap and a cool "frozen" tap in the shape of an ice mountain top that pours 32 degree beer.
Upstairs find views of the FlatIrons, and another bar where during the summer you can sip, slurp and sup under the stars or sun.
The century old stone walls, and the general funk make this different from any franchise operation you'll ever find anyplace else.
But at night, it goes from a laid back bar/eatery to the kind of bumpin and grindin dance hall only a university town would produce. You find everyone from students to locals, but it definately shifts towards the meat market joint after midnight.
Live music, great cheap eats, and a full bar - what else do you need?
