Located in Coarsegold, about 25 miles from Yosemite's south entrance, this can be a fun stop on your way to or your way from the park. Pan for real gold in the Gold Gulch Museum and get a real sense of the history of the Gold Rush era. There is a living history tour of the Sierras. See the photos and then buy quality gifts in the gallery. There is a room called Indian Territory where you will find Native American crafts as well as photos and paintings with that theme. Gold panning lessons include the equipment needed to try your luck at panning for gold. There is not a charge to take the self-guided tour of the museum.
