San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose

This museum didn't impress us much. Modern/contemporary art? What ever floats your boat. Price (8 per adult) was alright if you enjoy seeing paint smeared on a canvas and named "untitled". The staff was very standoffish. If you absolutely love modern art, go for it! If you don't, well then you might not want to. Very accessible parking.

Now they charge $8 for adult and $5 for children. Total waste of money. No art at all unless you call a canvas-full of single color art (exhibit "color and space", in one fellow vistor's word, "no better than a paint sample"). They claim they are known for "contempory art":-) LOL. There are so many staff standing around and the best thing they do is to tell kids "no running" and "no touching". The so called "robot show" is a JOKE. If you realy want to see technology go the the Tech Museum. Want to get little kids busy go to the Children's discovery museum. Want to see some real art? Carmel or San Francisco. Definately not this museum. I think it will be a better use of space and public/charity funding to convert it to something else. I can't believe this thing can survive for all this time.

i liked how it was peaceful and thoughtful, a place to enjoy good art! i love that san jose has a good place like this, it really gives the kids a chance to see what art really is.

This is a nice museum in San Jose. Unfortunately (or fortunately, for some people) it seems that some of the work is never taken off display. . .(Please, please put the Dugmore piece in Storage!)

there were some good pices but over all i wasn't all that impressed

I enjoyed the various displays that this Museum offers. The collection includes a good array of different types of art. The atmosphere was comfortable and the admission was free!
