Peralta Adobe & Fallon House Historic Site is made up of two different buildings. One is the oldest address in San Jose, the other is the home built by a former mayor in the 19th century. See what life was like in the 1900s and get a rich dose of fascinating local history. The site also contains an excellent bookstore. Tours are available by appointment only.

Been back many times

I really enjoy learning about my local history. But thats the thing. I dont know if you would enjoy it if you are not a local. But if you are into hisotry then you will also like it! Take a walk and enjoy all the other sites along downtown. they are marked with signs. its a great walk and a wonderfull way to spend your sunday!

Probably only interesting for local history buffs....

I'm glad they preserved the Adobe because it's very intersting to imagine what San Jose looked like before it was settled and devloped! The Fallon House wan't that interesting to me perhaps because I don't have much appreciation for Fallon and his historic contributions. I was hoping that the bookstore in the visitor center would have a more comprehensive collection of books and souveniers and I was disappointed by that.
