Japanese Friendship Garden

Description

Located in Kelley Park , this garden is modeled after Korakuen Park in Okayama, Japan, which is one of San Jose's sister cities. In a very peaceful, relaxing setting, enjoy the unique bridges, ponds and pathways that exquisitely demonstrate the fine art of classic Japanese landscape gardening. You can even feed the fish. You will always be immersed in a wide variety of colors, varying from wisteria lavenders to azalea pinks and depending on the season. Check website for timings

Waste of time
By ,
The park is too small and over hyped. Car parking was too less for this park and overall it was nothing new to offer

Very relaxing wonderful park
Feeding the coy is fantastistic; they eat it out of your hand! Great places to visit right here in San Jose. Appropiate for all ages.

Beautiful every time!
By ,
LOVE JFG!! I've been there many times--whenever I would visit my friend who lived there (since moved). She even had some of her wedding photos taken there--what a back drop!! Love the gardens and the koi fish, so beautiful!! Wish they would've left the bridge painted red...it had been painted brown last time I was there. Lovely place!!! :)

Cool park
By ,
I have been to the sister city's park in Okayama, Japan and i have to say that park is spectacular. This park, although not like the park in Japan, is a very nice and peaceful place with nice manicured gardens and a few little ponds. :-) A great place to visit.

The place is awesome.
By ,
A very typical eastern style garden. You cann't see this kind of garden in many places here at U.S. I went there with my parents and we all enjoy the garden, the pond, the fountain, and the stream. will go back there soon.

Free is Always Good
By ,
Pros: numerous of huge koi fishes, we can feed the fishes, different sorts of trees, not too crowded, free!!!, near: kelly park, happy hallow zoo & history park, ducks are cute too, several water features, my friend said she saw a crane... (but when I went, it was gone), & great for a walk in a park. Cons: water is pretty murky (a lot of mosses), cannot run on the grass, only some parts are actually "japanese-ish", no tables (only some benches), only two ways to enter (there are these gates, but they all seem to be locked), & parking is 6 bucks.

Not well-managed
By ,
The park is nice and well designed but it was crowded and dirty. The people who were there that day were not respectful of park or other visitors. It is not in a good neighborhood. It was not an enjoyable experience.

Beautiful!
By ,
Me and my BF go here on dates all the time. It is very beautiful and the koy fish are always fun to look at! I take my nephew.. he loves to feed the fish. its only a quarter to feed and free to enter. It gives you a very peaceful and relaxing feeling to be there & watching children enjoy the beauty of it, makes you feel even better!
