J.J.'s Blues Cafe
This blues joint has been around forever, and nearly everyone who is anyone in the world of blues has played here. It is a tiny, casual sort of place with photos of jazz greats and other celebrities covering the walls. Come into this long, skinny music venue and drown your sorrows while bluesmen of all ages crank it out on stage to fans from all over the Bay Area. Admission varies by event.
man i can'y believe jj's is still open and going strong, lived in the bay area in the mid-late 80's and used to go out on tuesday nights for thier open mic nites, saw robert cray there once just chillin'
JJ's is what a blues club should be. Small, intimate, full of flavor and atmosphere. It's where you can get up close and personal with the bands and have a really good time. I now live in the Sacramento area and there is no place like that here. The closest that comes is the Torch Club. JJ's is where you can find Blues raw and gritty and full bore. Everyone who can should experience JJ's. It's Blues at its best.
JJ's provides some of the best local and national musical talent representing the blues genre in its true form. Although the place looks like a dive, the new owners want to preserve this famous spot and plan to spruce up the furnishings and continue to provide top quality entertainers for those who love the Blues. It's located on Stevens Creek BOulevard across from the Guitar Center. Best bet for parking when the place is jumpin' is on either of the closest side streets. A must see stop while you're in town.
