Falafel Drive-In, San Jose

I have referred many of my client's (I am a party planner) to Falafel Drive-in for Excellent Food and Excellent Value - great if you are having a party with lots of vegetarians or if you just want something a little different. Very fresh! Very Yummy! Only drawback is they don't like to take your order in advance - they want it and hour or so before you come to pick-up, that can a little nerve-wracking on the day of a party. Get the lunch special with the fresh banna shake. Most seating outside covered, fine except for the wettest of days. Easy to find on San Carlos between 880 and Bascom Ave.

Disgusting cubes of "raw" gyros, with little flavor, sloppily assembled. I know the meat is precooked, but gyros needs to be recooked before it is served. Imagine a hot-dog that came to you cold and "raw". Still technically cooked, but who would want that? Still I'd rather eat ten "chilly"-dogs than eat at FDL again. The falafel was nothing special either. Who the heck is it that raves about this place? Likely, just a bunch of tools with no mind or taste-buds of their own, probably these are the same people who eat at Taco Bravo, keep it down, and like it. At least you don't have to wait long before you are served (or again until you have to run to the toilet).

I love this falafel , yum, yum It is fast and healthy I don't think there is any food taste like this I highly recommend this place I never thought fast food can be healthy

I love this place. I eat here at least once a week. Service with a smile everytime. The food is excellent especially their signature falafel's. As a vegetarian its a great place to get a good nutritious meal on the go.

The oldest Falafel place that I know of. I have been going for 36 years. Never once was I disappointed, and always a real treat to eat.

The best falafels I have ever had. Try them with their famous banana shakes and a side of Hummus. Delicious food, friendly service, and great value!

I have been eating at FDI since 1969 and have tried falafels all over the world. Nobody does them as well. After college I lived in Seattle for a few decades and am now in Salt Lake City. I cannot make a trip to the Bay Area without diverting to San Jose for just one more falafel. The world will miss Anton S. Nijmeh, but this restaurant is a profound legacy by which to remember this gentle man.

Being a vegetarian, this is one of the few eating places I dont have to strike a compromise on taste. The falafel + milk-shake combo rocks. A side order of pita chips adds to the music playing on your tastebuds. The service is fast and though you'll see a long line-up, the wait is very short. Make sure you ask for some of their sauces on the side.

This is by far the best place for falafels and gyros. My family and I have tried other places but nothing compares. We will travel far just to come to this restaurant. I highly recommend coming here. I'm sure once you do you wont go any place else.
